So Dream Theater won a grammy for Best Metal Performance.

I liked DT early stuff when they were more prog influenced....I will say from a technical perspective Petrucci, Myong, and Rudess are far superior to anyone in Metallica....Petrucci's a really good guy, Steve Morse is one of his favorite players....I saw Rudess do a blistering set of acoustic piano (a mix of Genesis, Yes, ELP) opening for Steven Wilson years ago....and got to talk to him some before the show, very nice fellow.....

That said Petrucci's playing can be a little stiff at times but overall I really like him....

I was never a heavy metal band fan. Did see a few of them in concert back in the day. Having been to several Texas Jam concerts at the cotton bowl stadium back in the day. Given todays popular music however, I’ll give it a thumbs up if they got a real drummer, real people playing instruments and no vocal auto tune

I saw Gwar at Storyville Jazz Hall in the 80's. What a show that was.

I saw them in the 90's while in HS. Half of my body was stained blue-green for a week after that show...
