Nah, Fred Thomas was serviceable at cornerback for years. If he had fallen off in training camp 2006 instead of week 6 of the 2006 regular season we’d remember him way differently - he’d just be the guy who kept Deuce out of #22 instead of the guy who gave up big plays to WR1s because Gary Gibbs’ defense didn’t have Mike McKenzie just follow them.

Jason David was a disaster from the moments the games began to count and Gibbs let him play for two seasons. Gregg Williams’ “no highway cones” quote immediately comes to mind.

ok, I voted forrealz.

I see that Irrrrrnnnnnhead is running away in the poll.

But the best, truly best nickname on the OP list is...

Beer Man

It's the only nickname that comes from outside of football, and then football made it an amazing nickname.

The other names are puns on their real names, or related to description of them as a player.

All the nicknames were so fun when the guys were playing, but every single second you saw Michael Lewis, even standing on the sideline, the thought power-popped into your head .... Beer Man.

And then on another level of the mind, beer is good. 'Beer Man' resonates there. I like ice cold lagers in the summer. Though I'm more a liquor guy year round, and watching games. The thought or sight of a big beer truck and it's holy driver, that's a good moment.

Lewis was a Budweiser truck driver. He drove routes near the Dome. He went to Grace King High School. His wikipedia with his life story is a fun read. I think he's the Official Ambassador of the New Orleans Saints.

tis a thing of beauty....
well worth clicking through to youtube to watch this 4 minute game highlight. So much to enjoy

I also now do see that Ironhead was a childhood nickname. But if I'm choosing Beer Man vs. Ironhead, the ice cold bud moniker wins.

Craig "Ironhead" Heyward, a former NFL running back, earned his nickname because, according to his son Cameron, when he was a young boy, another kid hit him in the head with a pool cue at the Boys & Girls Club, and he barely flinched, leading his mother to call him "Ironhead" due to his seemingly "iron" head.

Fred "Cue Tip" Thomas
Fred "French Toast" Thomas
Marshon "Mike Evans' Daddy" Lattimore

Page 5 and not one mention of Sam Mills the Field Mouse? We are losing it.

Also Vaughn Johnson - "Meat"

Exactly, always liked Field Mouse for Sam Mills.

As for Tayson Hill? He needs a cool nickname

Like the Stormin Mormon?

Or something off the Latter Day Saints...... Like...the better playing Saint ????

Or just stick with Swiss Army knife
