I'm on flight this morning from NOLA bound for Los Angeles. I go about midway down the plane and to my right I see a familiar face....it's none other than Bill Vinovich. The plane is filled with Saints fans. We outnumbered Rams fans going to Los Angeles by 3 to 1....Similar to their home games.

Anyway, a Rams fan goes to sit next to Bill but a Saints fan yells out..."Congratulations. What about that call?" The Rams fan not realizing he was about to sit next to Vinovich says, "I'm sorry that was a horrible call against you guys." Next Rams fan opens the newspaper. Vinovich glances over, the Headlines, "They blew the call".

I'm contemplating all the way to Los Angeles as he sleeps wondering if I'm going to say anything. Finally we start to get off the plane. I go into the isle to exit. I lean over and say, "Hey Bill (he was shocked that I knew who he was) tough game last night huh? Next time take the time to get it right". He hangs his head down in shame. A slight bit of sarcasm coming from me. I couldn't say what I wanted but he got the point.

If you read his story the guy almost died 6-7 years ago. I'm guessing my compassion came into play by not letting me say what I wanted to. I'm hurting tonight like almost all of you. It's been eating away at me all day. I woke up at midnight and couldn't go back to sleep. I do know that just like the Vikings game we will get past it. I'm guessing it will take a good part of the offseason for me.

It's freaking hard to get where we just got to but our city is strong, our team and our coach are strong. We will come back. I'm a lifer and will support our team. WhoDat!

Is that picture of him sleeping from the flight or the game?

I can’t help but wonder if he’s even deserving of forgiveness. Could he pass a polygraph? If so, then maybe we could find it in our hearts. I say, let’s find out.

At the very least, you should have given him a wet willie and then say Who Dat

That took a tremendous amount of self-control on your part. If you had outed him, he might've needed security to get out uninjured.

On top of being a lousy official, he’s also an airplane seat recliner! The guy behind him needs to lean forward and scream “neutral zone infraction!”

You are a better man than I. I would of beat the crap out of him. He’s a LIAR. He saw the whole play and lied about it.

Jesus the nfl can’t even spring for first class? Got him flying in coach delta? I would have thought after that pay day they at least would spring for economy+.

I don't know how the referee hierarchy works in a game setting, or how much clout the head ref has when his judges make a bad call to overturn it. But if I'm giving them ANY benefit of the doubt, the league has failed to give the refs any support in being able to reaffirm/overturn calls.

If I take out any influence from the league office, Vinovich's reaction screams of "I wish I could take that moment back, but in the moment, I had to go with what my guys said. Even if they're flat out wrong, because only the booth can buzz in for any help there".

I personally don't know if I lay it all on him, I say that the guys on his crew need to be replaced BADLY. But again, I don't know how much power he held on that particular call.

Edit: I will add, this doesn't take away that overall the officiating was bad and needs to be better period. But if we're laying our cards on the table for that one call, that's how it breaks down. I don't personally want anyone to feel bad or want to hate any official. But this call is going to be historically bad.

Couldn't you at least put a drop or two of Crazy Glue in the corners of his eyes to simulate what he didn't see in the game?
