Bill Vinovich this morning (1 Viewer)

Sorry man. You have more strength than me. I wouldn't physically harm him but I would let him know his "non call" really affected the lives of a lot of people. People invested their time, money, heart, soul into this team and to let it come down to this one call. I wouldn't hold myself back by telling him he screwed up a lot of people and the game. Hell with him. I don't care about his problem in the past. He had one job.

I don't fault Vinovich for the PI non-call. He's been a good referee and can't force members of his crew to throw a flag. That said, the holding call late in the game on the Saints when they had a chance to put it away could have been influenced by him and completely changed the game at that point. Especially considering they weren't calling anything to that point.

He’s a liar. Once again he said he didn’t see the play. On the low camera replay you can see him looking at the play. He’s horrible and a fixer and that is illegal. Wouldn’t be surprised if Vegas does something.

I don't know how the referee hierarchy works in a game setting, or how much clout the head ref has when his judges make a bad call to overturn it. But if I'm giving them ANY benefit of the doubt, the league has failed to give the refs any support in being able to reaffirm/overturn calls.

If I take out any influence from the league office, Vinovich's reaction screams of "I wish I could take that moment back, but in the moment, I had to go with what my guys said. Even if they're flat out wrong, because only the booth can buzz in for any help there".

I personally don't know if I lay it all on him, I say that the guys on his crew need to be replaced BADLY. But again, I don't know how much power he held on that particular call.

Edit: I will add, this doesn't take away that overall the officiating was bad and needs to be better period. But if we're laying our cards on the table for that one call, that's how it breaks down. I don't personally want anyone to feel bad or want to hate any official. But this call is going to be historically bad.
each of the 7 officials has an "area" of the field to cover

generally, the head referee (Bill Vinovich in this case) covers the offensive backfield and LOS

while he may have been looking in the general area of the play because his action to cover was mostly over... the foul did not happen in his "area"

that's why I generally give him leeway on the pass interference call... it's not his call to make... that area of the field belongs to the side judge and down judge and to a much lesser degree the back judge

now if you want to get on him for a potential missed roughing the passer call on the INT in OT... that's fair game

I would have been tempted to get behind him while he slumbered, tapped him on the shoulder to wake him up, then whispered in his ear

"You stole something very precious from us. I hope that someday, someway when you least expect it someone steals something very precious from you. That would be payback. "

I tend to agree with you but the LIAR saw it and technically has the ability to call it.

You have every right to be angry.

I still am.............even though it's more of a "numb" type of anger, at this point.

But at the end of the day......if you attacked Bill Vinovich............you'd now be the crazy-*** who attacked the ref. Not one member of the Saints organization would be there to bail you out or have your back, publicly. At best, one of them MIGHT re-tweet the story with a cutesy little laughing emoticon face or something.
You’re probably 100000 percent correct. I’m not rational right now. However I would be happy to take one for the team. Sooner or later someone has to stand up to corrupt officiating. I said the OP was a better man than I.
