La'el Collins released by the Bills. Would you pick him up? I’m sure he is better than what we have at RT.​

Can’t say I have spent any time whatsoever watching Lael Collins tape, but the anecdotal evidence suggests that he’s likely beyond washed.

Given our situation though…

I wonder if Collins is physically ready. He tore multiple knee ligaments in December 2022 and missed all of 2023. Might be worth checking out, recognizing that he’s in his 30s now. OL can play well into their 30s — just have to see if he’s healed up enough and hasn’t lost too much to the injury.

Collins isn’t the flashiest name on the list here but he’s a longtime NFL vet with experience that can play a few positions on the offensive line. The Bills took a flier on him this summer and another team could think about doing the same

But it'd be about LT and RT. No man crush TE can catch balls when the QB is almost instantly on their back.

Maybe we could have drafted a Tight end to play tackle... but we should have drafted more Oline since we don't have money to bring in more than one "talent" a year.

If there's a sliver of hope: What Collins is trying to do has been done before.

All-Decade OT Jason Peters tore the same Achilles tendon twice in the 2012 offseason at age 30. He missed all of 2012, and the came back in 2013-16 to make two All-Pro teams and four straight Pro Bowls.

Peters was still in the league last season, starting two games for the Seahawks at age 41.
