Blue print for beating the 2010 Failcons (1 Viewer)

REally every game is close

1st 2006 game
23-6 saints
2nd 2006 game
34-13 Saints
2nd 2007 Game
34-14 Saints
1st 2008 Game
34-20 falcons

4 out of the last 9 Games have been blow outs 1 way or the other

Maybe i should have said in the Matt Ryan era.

Early in the season, the Saints were like a locomotive trying to pull a long train on wet track. It has taken them a couple of games, but they're rolling like the "Cannonball Express" now & the Atlanta Falcons are in the way.
It gonna suck to be a Falcon come Monday!
GEAUX SAINTS!!!

meh, here are the averages since 06, we have 9 games and eagles have 4 in the same time frame

saints 27 falcons 20
eagles 28 falcons 18

just sayin

I don't know what you want me to say, the saints just aren't scary. Andy Reid is.

Hi. Falcons fan here. I don't think the Falcons really pulled out all the stops or anything in week three. That was a pretty standard gameplan for us.

you guys went for it on 4th and 2 twice in the 1st quarter and once in the 2nd.... That's a desperate team who knows they don't have what it takes to win unless they play unconventionally... I'm not saying you weren't good enough to win, but it was obvious that the staff set up a game plan based on you couldn't play toe to toe and win.. You don't pass up three and go for it on 4th down (both conversions were in FG range) if you have confidence you can win without taking risks...

It was a very important game for the Falcons. Both teams have a lot riding on this game despite the fact that both teams will likely finish with the same seeding regardless of the outcome. There's a lot to be gained by winning this one.
I think it's an important game for both as well, you guys need to prove to yourself that you really are the better team and you didn't just catch the Saints before they got over the hangover... the Saints need to win to prove to themselves that they are still the champs..

As for your original post, I don't know what you're talking about with the national media being all over our jocks. The Falcons are pretty much ignored by the national media. And if you jump out to an early 21 point lead, you've got a pretty decent chance at beating anyone.

Agreed, you don't get nearly the pub for a team with your record... No one disrespects you, everyone has flattering things to say but no one goes out of their way to heap praise on you... I think it's like Chicago, people recognized you have a good record but watching the teams play doesn't instill confidence that they can do it every week cuz you simply dont to anything flashy, it's very conservative and nothing dominant about it.

The Saints can beat the Falcons by shutting down Turner and forcing mistakes from Ryan. That's not easy to do though. The Falcons aren't a hard team to figure out, The Falcons are +13 in that category and the Saints are -5.

This is a misleading stat... I've said it several times, looking at the entire season is pointless, look at the last 4 games.. Teams constantly evolve... some get better some get worse or at least they stay about the same but do it differently... No team is the same team they were early in the season... The falcons don't turn the ball over because they play some basic football and don't take a ton of chances... hammer the run in there and play action pass... You've been successful at it... My feeling is the Saints and Phily are the two teams you don't match up well against... You don't play stifling defense and aren't capable of getting into a shootout.. once a good team gets up on you, you're done...

I don't know what you want me to say, the saints just aren't scary. Andy Reid is.

Expected, way to be completely blind to facts. Either way, eagles will more than likely bounce you in your first playoff game. What is mike smith, 0-1 in the playoffs. That checks, you can't win in the playoffs by checking down every play.

We are very beatable, like every team. It's not rocket science. We play an ordinary boring brand of football. Nothing fancy or exotic. The 1-on-1 battles is what it comes down to. If your guy wants it more than our guy then your guy will win. Simple.

I hate the Falcons but so far I've gotta give them credit for doing what they've needed to do to win games and take care of business. BUT, as far as being better than us I dont believe thats true just like I did in week 3.

One lucky game by yall and one sloppy one by us hasn't changed my opinion, even if yall win this game Monday yall are gonna have to beat us three times for me to give yall that honor because I feel like were gonna be aggressive in this game but I dont think Coach Paytons gonna show everything we have in case we see yall in the playoffs, I think we'll probably add a few wrinkles but generally keep the gameplan the same on the offensive side like it was in week 3, now defense hopefully is a different story, so if yall do sweep us in the regular season thats fine as long as we win the most important one in the Playoffs, even though I predict us to win this one in a close game and a blowout if we see each other in the divisonal or championship round :9:

Stop the run is a start

Stop the run and establish your own running game. Brees has had to air it out way too much. When the other team expects the pass the chances of an interception rise. We do not need to get Brees in a position where he has to convert in 3rd and long and we do not need to throw the ball as often as we have. Heres hoping Ivory plays and PT and Bush are getting closer to 100%. We need Balance this game!

Need to put Jenkins on Gonzalez....he is their go to guy on 3rd/4th down plays. Greer and/or Porter can take RW out of the game, no issues. Don't let Gonzo beat us by putting Shanle or any LB on him.....

The key to beating the Falcons is stopping Turner.

If we can keep him to below 50 yards, and get a 2 score lead we will win this game. The falcons are not made to play catchup.
