No this is not an attempt at self-promotion (though of course im not opposed to that).. just wondering if any of yall have singed up for the new(ish) Bluesky app ? I downloaded it sometime last year but only signed up a couple days ago, and so far i like it.. seems that many folks who are fed up with the debacle that Twitter/X/Whatever has become have signed up on Bluesky, and no i am not associated with it in any way, though i kinda wish i were.. just curious what other people here might think who already use it.. btw please refrain from making this, like so many other things in 2024, needlessly political if at all possible, thx

Good luck with that, Mr. Bleu. I won't be d/l'g it but then I rarely use Twitter/X. Are people using Bluesky for business/advertising purposes or only as a social network?

I dont think ill need much luck, since it’s literally against the TOS here.. it’s no different than when i speak to many members of my own family- or some of my own friends - whom i know have a worldview that is radically different from my own- we simply choose one of the many thousands of other things we can discuss that aren’t of a political nature.. i realize that’s a whole lot harder these days than it used to be, but it still isn’t *that* hard imo .

In the very limited time so far that ive been on Bluesky, the format itself seems pretty similar to Twitter .. Like you, I didn’t use Twitter very much, but yeah it’s way more like that than it is like Facebook or ‘Gram or some others out there.. and also seems like a mix of business/advertising/social/personal like every other social platform- though I haven’t seen quite as many ads on there, my guess is it’s becuase it’s newer .

I enjoy it. Civility rules.

On the Elon thread we have discussed Bluesky as of late.

One item is you can create "lists". (For instance News) and within that list, add folks you follow and you will see posts on your home wall ONLY from them (sort of controlling your "algorithm" )

You can also subscribe to pre made lists. One type is a block list- where if you subscribe it blocks feeds from the folks on that list (which is constantly updated)

It's moderated. Just like here. And I have no problem with moderation. I understand the need for and implementation of removing posts.
Ita about civility.

So folks who don't care for moderation have options. Folks who do now have as well.
