There are those out there who consider deleting X / joining Bluesky to be a form of peaceful protest over the results of November 5th, for whatever coping mechanism reason. If things had gone the other way, most people still wouldn't know what Bluesky is.

There also those who saw Elon for who he truly is. It was more about the manipulation of the platform to allow chaos to reign. I think Nov 5 was the straw for many ( including myself ) in the sense of the "community" on X is no longer a community- its completely divided and tilted.

Sure there has (and always will be) a deliberate Newspeak-ing of information
And the part of the information cycle who weaponize that want citizens to throw hands up in confusion/exasperation
Which is why it’s even more important for us to suss out verified information from propagandist bs

Oh I have no doubt X is probably about like reading Tiger Droppings......where a mere difference in opinion leads to questions about that person's sexual orientation and/or accusations that their wife enjoys the company of other men.

Still, my overall point is, it wasn't like November 5th uncovered some massive reveal about Elon's political leanings. So there was definitely some degree of "I'm taking my ball and going home" over the outcome for many.

I mean, that's true but I am laughing at the ignorance of the "legacy media" (whatever the heck THAT even is these days) as they struggle with how irrelevant they are becoming. For people in the business of media to be so slow to realize what the rest of us do, that people get their "news" online from podcasts and social media and not from cable or TV news anymore, is the problem. We listened to the newscasters for years because we trusted that they knew more than we, the plebeians, knew. So the problem, more and more, seems to be "them".

See, I think what we have been gaslit into thinking is that none in the media know what they are talking about and they all are biased is just plain wrong. The problem is that we have all been gaslit into thinking that when the truth is that you just have to check your sources and scrutinize even sources that you think are reliable.

The result of this gaslighting is that we believe whatever any politician tells us and whatever anyone on social media tells us if it fits our world view, confirms what we already think, and it makes us feel warm and fuzzy regardless of if it's true or if they will actually do it.
