Bobby Hebert: The Next Few Games Will Determine Jameis Winston's Future And His Future Pay (2 Viewers)

Part of me feels bad for Winston, he accepted a pay cut only to be thrown behind that offensive line in a prove it situation. He is our best option regardless.
Life of a backup. Nobody else was signing him to big money so the pay cut stuff is nonsense

But to your point, how did this OL get so bad in 20 games

If he can just give us what he always had, we're going to be fine. Mike T is pumped because he knows Jameis has implicit trust in him. He needs to use this week to learn how to not lean on Mike too much, and to step up in the pocket, despite his survival instinct telling him not to do so. This is what separates Jameis from Carr.
He can’t possibly trust him more than Carr did. Carr targeted that dude a ton, at least early on and any time he needs a clutch catch

I am neither a Jamies apologist nor a Jameis hater. I consider myself pretty objective. Now having said that, unless the o-line issues are fixed, it doesn't really matter who the QB is behind the line, it'll be a disaster.
At this point I have no confidence the OL will be fixed. It’s been downright bad 20 straight games now

I think Winston will get the ball out quickly. He pulled the trigger pretty well today. He has been injured behind the Saints line twice and watched Carr go down. Comp % and INTs might not be great, but I think Winston takes less hits than Carr.

He’s not though. He should be the last option. We have a much better one. We just refuse to play him full time at QB. I honestly don’t know how people can watch TH7 and JW play, and say with a straight face that JW is the better option if they like seeing the Saints win. It’s baffling to me.

How many times does Jamies 2x once as a starter and once as a back up, Andy, Trevor, have to beat out Taysom for QB1, before you guys stop beating that dead horse.

People here won't see it that way. Book it.

Drew hurt 3 times, Jamies hurt 2x, Carr 1x....this line has been bad for a few yrs. You know why MT thrived here? Because, Drew was able to get the ball out quick enough to MT, for the O line to not have to hold longer than a 3 count. This is why the line was able to work with Drew.

JW has had some of his best games as a Saint, behind this oline in previous seasons, is to get yardage with his legs when it breaks down

he had a chance last week and didnt do so

not saying that will be what will win games throughout the season but in the role as backup to get wins while starter is out he may need to do so

im not really familiar with Carr's game as i only watch the Saints but that maybe, with the issues we are having, may make JW more successful than Carr

though if AK can bring the screen game into the offense that would help alot

It's kinda a messed up situation for dude TBH...he should've never taken a backup gig because that puts you off the field and on the sidelines...QB is probably the one position where you need regular live reps to be effective. Case in point...Watson used to be considered one of the best QBs in the league...he still hasn't caught up after not taking live snaps for 2 years

But oh well...it is what is it is.

I've started to wonder--if we can't run block and can't pass protect, what makes us think these guys are going to start excelling while blocking in space for a screen?
