Brandon Spikes tries to blind UGA RB on purpose (1 Viewer)

I remember reading about Dick Butkus (may have been Nitschke or Curtis) in the pile. Whoever it was said he was on the bottom and two fingers snaked their way inside his facemask. he thought "Some *&^%$ is going for the eye gouge" and bit down as hard as he could. One problem, they were his own fingers :covri:

And that's how the Revolution helmet concept was born. :ezbill:

I'm talking about future draft picks, and I meant another Jonathan Sullivan. I don't think the Saints are going to go out and sign the real Jonathan Sullivan tomorrow, nor am I advocating cutting Grant or Stinchcomb. I'm saying UGA is a dirty team, and they always play the Gators dirty. They are like the kid down the street that you would always play in sports and when he couldn't win on the field, he would resort to trying to hurt you. There has been continued malice ever since Georgia ran out on the field to celebrate their TD against the Gators two years (or three cocktail parties) ago. Richt reminds me of Haslett in that he tries to befriend the players and allows them to do juvenile stunts like that. I wouldn't put it past Richt to encourage his players to play as dirty as they do against the Gators. You don't know anything about this rivalry if you think Georgia doesn't come out looking to hurt UF. They are dirty and I don't want them on the Saints. Grant, Stinchcomb, and even wretched Sullivan are all from a different era of Georgia football than this current cheapshot era.

Dude, it is a huge rivalry. There is always going to be passion, and quite a bit of animosity on both sides. The two schools can't even agree on the all time series record. But to come to this thread and call Georgia dirty, and attempt to trash their character when it was your player caught on tape with no excuse that started this thread, is just homeristic and sad.

Because this current crop of UGA players are immature and have not been taught discipline by their coaching staff. On the whole, they don't seem to be "Payton-type players." Maybe they have a few model citizens, but on the whole, they seem to try to make up for their lack of talent with cheap play.

I cannot recall ever seeing such sour grapes from a fan on the winning side.

Apparently the feeling is quite mutual by UF

Didn't Reggie Nelson blind-side some player a few years back when the ball wasn't even going towards the UGA WR?

On Joe Haden this time, not on Spikes.

That is Washaun Ealy, the player Spikes attempted to gouge. Not knowing at what stage that photo was taken, it simply shows the intensity between the teams. He is not attempting to damage anyone’s eyes, and, for all we know, that was retaliation immediately following Spikes mistake.

Strike two...

Let me add that I don't really think Spikes is a cheap or dirty player. He made a mistake. He apologized. I'm over it. But you are not talking to UGA fans on this board, except myself and ugasaintsuga, and they are overwhelmingly in support of the Dawgs in this thread. And they dislike UGA just as much as they do Florida. They are impartial, and disagreeing with your "Gator Nation" position. Think about that.

Are you serious? It was still a live running play. There was nothing late or illegal about that. Unnecessary, maybe, but still well within the scope of football. I don't particularly like that, but it is in no way comparable to Spike's offense.

Unnecessary roughness, obviously a penalty, not within the rules of football

Oh my god, that picture is terrible, that RB is putting his hands on the UF players helmet! OMG! Is he ok? Did he suffer any sort of injury?
