Brandon Staley and Christian Parker interviewed for Defensive Coordinator, Doug Nussmeier interviewed for OC; all on Feb 16 (35 Viewers)

I mentioned that I would prefer Parker as DC as long as there were a veteren defensive assistant coach supporting Parker. After some thought, if the decision is close, the determining factor should be who their assistants would be if they were hired.

A DC can only do so much. So, if I were the front office, I would gauge who they could bring in as their assistants via commitments in order to make my final decision.

Staley's lack of defensive production as a HC makes me nervous but Underhill did a study on young OC'S that got hired as head coach and while the hit rate was fairly high, the ones that did fail also had young first time DC's. Parker as DC combined with Moore could just be too much youth and inexperience in the coaching staff. At least Staley brings some experience even if his experience wasn't great.

That's actually why I would prefer Staley to be Assistant HC and a position coach. Splitting those duties would greatly help CKM manage the team without taking the focus away from the defense. Parker could focus only on DC duties where Staley would likely have to do both as DC.

Expect it. Every GM will make the saints pay a kings random for a trade up. And the Saints will expect it as well.

The only thing that would help, is if Garret Nussemier told every other team that if they draft him, he will refuse a second contract. This would force a team to consider if 5 years plus a franchise tag year or two is worth it.

If I had to guess, I would guess we will be picking somewhere between 17 and 22. I would expect to lose 2 or 3 first round picks as well as a couple of 2nd round picks and maybe even some 3rds.
You think we’ll be good enough to pick between 17 and 22? I fully expect a top 5 pick.

I don't see a reason for Staley to leave SF for anything other than a DC position. They're a better team and he will potentially get better opportunities staying at SF than going to an unknown in NOLA. And if he's willing to come to the Saints for anything other than DC, is he willing to play nicely in the sandbox? Because you have to believe that he thinks he is good enough to be the DC.

With Carr starting, I think the answer is, Yes. If not Carr, I don't know. But, if Moore is who we think he is, I think the offense will good enough to get the Saints to around .500 in any case.

Moore even stated that when the Eagles played the Saints, they barely won. Moore doesn't see the Saints as talent poor as the rest of the Saints fans. Moore is playing to win the division, THIS YEAR.

If we don’t move on from Carr and he plays 17 games, we will pick no better than 14. We will be just good enough to miss out on top 10 talent but bad enough to where we just miss or barley make playoffs.

Not a chance. Our coaching vastly failed our players. Despite what people say on this board, we have a good amount of talent all over the place. RB, Oline, Dline, secondary. WR's.

I can go into details about it, but our schemes were failing the players all around as well as our coaches coaching technique against upcoming opponents. Double that the players gave up on the coaches and you have the recipe for exactly what we saw on game day.

We'll be in the playoff race still come start of week 17. IDK if we have the talent to make it. Moore is also a rookie HC and there will be mistakes. The important thing is seeing mistakes not repeat consistently while coaching up the roster and acquiring better talent through FA/Draft and getting the cap in better state..
