Broncos hire Saints IHC/STC Darren Rizzi as their new Special Teams Coordinator and Assistant Head Coach (24 Viewers)

So let’s hear it. What, in your opinion, makes him THE BEST special teams coordinator in the league?
Sure thing.

Since Rizzi has taken over ST coordinator we have been top 10 in average yards returned per punt including multiple top 5. We have simultaneously allowed some of the least return yards on punts during that time.

We haven't allowed a single punt return for a TD his entire Saints tenure.

We haven't had a single punt blocked during his tenure while being top 5 in blocked punts.

He's responsible for finding Grupe and Shaheed.

He is undoubtedly one of the best ST coaches in the NFL period.

Your turn to explain why he's overrated.

Bottom half of the league in kick return avg, kick return average allowed, and punt return avg allowed last season.

And the aforementioned chronic habit of fielding and faircatching punts inside the 5 yard line. “You’re either coaching it or allowing it to happen.”

Good coach. But not THE BEST.

Only because it’s awkward & rare for an interim to come back under a new regime. No one else is hiring him at HC though.

Look, I think he’s a good coach. And it’s a good hire for Denver. Not trying to bash the guy. But I don’t think this is someone we can’t adequately replace.
I agree. I was just making the point that the second he was passed over as HC, he was effectively done as our ST coordinator even if Moore wanted him.

I also agree that he’s a good coach but not irreplaceable.

Not irreplaceable, and yet, the odds are better than even that his replacement won't be as good as he is. That's not a complaint about Moore or the Saints. That's just simple math when you lose a coach use unit was consistently near the top of the league (or even merely better than average).

I know this is controversial but this is more reason to hate SP. He took his ball and left and continues to scratch back all of his other toys.

I'll root for his massive failure every year until he retires.

This cracks me up, it's not controversial, it's just.....kind of silly....he was here 16 years....folks acting like he left for the Cowboys immediately after winning the SB (Peter Kings wet dream).....
