That may be a stretch because you don't push Drew aside nope never was going to happen. We still were a viable contender at that time. The team just couldn't finish...Jared Cook ring a bell or the tight end that dropped 2 potential td's in the Rams game. If we would have won the SB the year of the Rams Championship game I feel like Drew would have retired the next year if not the following for sure.

I mean Drew was and is an iconic figure for the Saints. Most of us wish we would of had Patrick Mahomes but would Mahomes even have gotten the chance he would have been the back up for quite awhile before he ever got the chance.

Sean had his reasons and hopefully someday it will get leaked or come out in a book when he is done coaching but until then it is all speculation as to what went down.

Same here and this is the way it used to be back in the Iron Era days where everyone's opinion was discussed in a civil manner. that was a long time ago and things change. I personally have to work really hard on being open minded over the years and yes you are correct that is what SR is all about and it still is a great place have discussions.

I am going to agree with you in hoping you are wrong BUT nothing would surprise me either. especially when you have so many type A personalities.

When it comes to Sean Payton, I will never talk bad or wish him ill will or hope he never wins a game. I hope he wins another Superbowl in Denver. I waited 23 years to see the Saints win a Superbowl and he and Drew and the countless other Saints greats brought it home so how can you not be forever grateful for that.

Without the cap hell. Payton helped put us in the cap hell. Loomis got the players Payton wanted and ultimately is where we are now. Carr is here because DA wanted him. To me, Loomis only fault is not being able to tell the coach we can't afford this player. Payton will be fine in Denver for 5 years because of the rookie QB. That's not the move I hoped Rizzi would make, but I get it. I think he needed to go be an offensive or defensive position coach for a couple of years like John Harbaugh did before he became a head coach. Then he'd be more attractive to teams looking. There have only been two ST coaches that went straight into being HC and they both failed and were fired within two years.

Hate is such a strong word. Now, personally I don’t want him to succeed Denver but I can’t hate the man that brought us our only SB and a decade+ of actually being respected.
