He wouldn’t I’m just saying I’m sure he would love to play for Payton. And that would probably get us a nice little bonus pick. Why would he care about getting us a pick?
Nah, he's a great run blocker, so he's worth at least a 7th. His biggest enemy is his health.I would trade TQS away for maybe a kickoff tee and a few extra footballs.
Nah. Sean will pluck him off the practice squad.trade Trequan to Sean?
I know we tend to overrate our own guys and every team has the 6-7th WR they like for development but you can't forget about the big signing bonus we had to give him due to interest from other teams. All he's done since acclimating to the team is justify our interest in him. Some writers assume we can stash Shaq Davis on the practice squad. If we try it, Sean will have him on a plane and a #12 jersey waiting for him at the airport.
I think TQS loses his roster spot to Kirkwood. Those 6 AM workouts with Carr and his ability to play multiple receiver positions along with Kirkwoods' own downfield blocking skills make TQS more vulnerable than ever. Although, he may wind up on our 53-man roster through a little creative roster shuffling before going on IR.I know we tend to overrate our own guys and every team has the 6-7th WR they like for development but you can't forget about the big signing bonus we had to give him due to interest from other teams. Meanwhile TQS early lead in camp from his familiarity with the offense is gone thanks to his injury, yet again. You can justify keeping around an injury prone player if they have a high ceiling but what's the point of an injury prone 4-5th WR?
I think it was TQS, Kirkwood and Perry a lil ways into camp at spots 4-6.I think TQS loses his roster spot to Kirkwood. TQS just can't stay healthy, doesn't play special teams, on the final year of his deal and has zero upside. IR would make sense, let's us get Davis through the final cuts and then try and move him to the PS during the season if they feel it's necessary.
The chemistry that Kirkwood has built with Carr with his pre-practice, 6 AM workouts with Carr has paid off. He'll contribute this year.I think it very likely is the end of the line for Smith as a Saint. Injuries have been an ongoing problem.
Kirkwood is an interesting one to watch. He's a vet, which has some value, but other than having been around a lockerroom for several seasons, he doesn't hold a huge advantage over the rookies in terms of actual game experience and production. He's had injury setbacks, too. I'm not convinced there would be any significant risk if the team decided to go with both Perry and Davis over Kirkwood, and if they keep six, perhaps Bowden (or somebody else) for the return game to supplement Shaheed.
If the team has enough confidence in one of the rookies to be the 4th guy, it wouldn't shock me if Kirkwood doesn't make it through.
