Bucs OC Liam Coen — HC candidate (11 Viewers)

I have a feeling Tampa will fire thier HC and promote him.

If i was the GM of Tampa I would do this. Can't let a rising star leave and keep thier so-so head coach.

Especially when he has helped transformed Mayfield into a moderate franchise qb. If he leaves then Tampa might lose that.
I believe you are right. From what I understand is they don't want Bowles without Coen, so before they lose him they would promote him. Could be wrong though.

I have a hard time seeing them let Coen walk too. A QB and play caller on the same page like the Bucs have is too rare.

Trust me us Bucs fans are on pins and needles about this. Only thing worse than losing Coen is losing him to a division rival.

While not being delusional about Todd Bowles being a great coach, I don't think he is as bad as a lot of people complain about over here. It would be interesting if both of them stayed, because it would be the first time in Baker's career he had the same HC and OC for two seasons.

Coen is in my top 4-5 HC candidates for us. I think he is a culture changer we want and one of the better offensive minds in the league. What he has done with the TB offense is pretty outstanding. The players love him. He can be lighthearted and then stern and serious when needed.

The only way I see that happening is if Coen doesn't get any job offers. If he gets one I think he has to take it. He's not Ben Johnson. His star could fall as quickly as Bobby Slowik's did.

I have him #2 behind Ben Johnson. Of course my list is only offensive coaches.

Bowles is 61, no way he will retire, and they won't fire him after he more than likely wins the south. Plus he's the one that hired Canales AND Coen along with bringing Mayfield in. More than likely ya'll will lose Coen , I'm hoping to us

Yeah, I don't think there's a Brinx truck big enough to get him to stay.

Funny thing is, Bowles is low-key coaching for his job Sunday.

Well that’s going to be an easy job considering what we’re fielding at this point in the season. But you honestly think Bowles could get fired this year? No way. You’re losing Coen. You’ll hire another OC and hope you get it right again. That’s the problem with hiring a defensive head coach.

If Mickey is heavily involved in the HC hire, do you think he will hold it against Coen that he refused to interview for the OC job three years ago? People can be petty and he might think the Saints would be in a completely different spot if he didn't snub them.

Only if he loses this weekend.

He won’t lose this weekend but if he did and you fire him after two division titles, having a winning season and missing the playoffs by 1 game you’ll face serious criticism. Unless you promote him to GM or something. Does that prediction include if the falcons lose and you still win the division?

The Glazers fired Gruden who had won a super bowl after a 9-7 season though it was a late season collapse. Tony Dungy was fired after getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs. So I don't think anything is impossible. The biggest thing going against Bowles is that the defense has been pretty lousy and have been carried by the offense. Winning the division is nice but he still has been a 500 coach since taking over a 13 win team. Context matters here. I think the FO will do what it takes to keep Coen.

Don't get me wrong, Bowles deserves a lot of credit for steering through the injuries they dealt with this year. But losing this weekend would be the continuation of a trend where we lay eggs when least expected.

Want to scare a Bucs fan? Tell us we should win. All the experts picking us to win gives us a panic attack
