What it does is open up future space.
What it does is open up future space. They avoid paying him a $15m option bonus, so it saves them that amount plus his other 2024 salary/bonus over two years ($26m cap hit this year versus $43m spread over two years).
I don’t think the move saves them any space. He had a $14m cap charge and $26m dead money, so they actually have $12m less space this year.

Cam Jordan's $16,966,897 cap hit in 2023 equates to $8,483,448.50 per sack. Jordan currently carries a $23,284,250 cap hit in 2024.
I think at this point he's an run stuffer with who still creates pressure but doesn't necessary always hit home or the QB runs into the other defender, because of his presence. It's crazy because when he was drafted I never thought he would be a good sack player but a run stuffer, I was wrong. There was plenty of time this year, I personally felt, that he close on many occasions. But also to your point I think Cam Jordan is getting the Brees treatment. Mickey seems to really have been rewarding home town hero's lately.
I’m reading that they will make him a post June cut so they will save 4.9m this year. Every site has his dead cap listed at 9.2m this year and next year with a post June cut. That adds up to 18.4m but it’s 26m this if he’s not a post June cut. Where did that other 7.6m go? 26m-18.4=7.6m. I’m still trying to learn the ins and outs of the cap.I don’t think the move saves them any space. He had a $14m cap charge and $26m dead money, so they actually have $12m less space this year.

If they make him a post June 1 cut, they would carry his current $14.2m cap hit until June 1. On June 2, the cap hit for 2023 would become $9.3m ($4.9m savings) and then the rest of his dead cap would accelerate into next year ($17.4m).I’m reading that they will make him a post June cut so they will save 4.9m this year. The best run stuffer in the league isn't worth half of $23,284,250.
