Butler agrees to terms with Saints (merged) (1 Viewer)

This guy is the perfect moneyball free agent! Efficient with his snaps at a reasonable price. In order to win on the field you have to be winning in the FO!

I'm going to assue this is the same reason Nhamdi hasn't made a decision yet. He's trying to choose between money and familiarity.

I think I remember reading that the Saints offered Nnamdi a "little more money". SF is offering him Nickel CB money because he won't beat out Rogers and the other kid (name escapes me).

I don't know how much "a little more money" is but money doesn't seem to be in the equation.

According to Garic, Butler turned down higher offers to get another chance to play for RR.

Ya know initially the Rob Ryan decision at DC scared me a bit, but i'm becoming more and more of a RR fan, he's already paying dividends, and might still pay some more if Nnamdi comes in...

I'm getting very excited to see our new D this year... I think we could have an absolutely great year. Man i can't wait!

Less money and a nice lunch with Mickey (In the team cafeteria)...Win. Win. It truly is all about the food.

Victor Butler: "All I Want is a Chance to Compete"

More from that article... call Mickey "The Closer".

“Lunch with Mickey was phenomenal,” said Butler. “I know it was a business lunch, but it was more of a personal talk. Mickey asked about my family, my background and how I liked New Orleans so far. He really took the time to get to know me as a person and I respect that. When you bring somebody into an organization you want to know what kind of person they are.

“I know Rob Ryan well and I am familiar with his scheme, but after sitting down and talking to Sean Payton and the other guys I felt it was a great fit. "

While visiting the four different NFL cities, Butler said he kept thinking about one factor that would narrow his decision.

“The chance to come in and compete is all I wanted in this free agency opportunity,” said Butler. “After sitting down and talking with everybody, I felt like my best chance to compete and be a part of a winning team was in New Orleans.”

“The people seem all about their Saints in New Orleans,” said Butler. “They are a lively bunch of people that want to have a good time and watch good football. I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

I like this guy.
