Butler agrees to terms with Saints (merged) (2 Viewers)

With the Butler signing, does this mean that we look elsewhere besides OLB in round 1? Maybe CB or Safety? OT?

Galette has a 3 yer deal. Butler has a 2 year, maybe 1. Wilson is on his final year and isn't a great fit at OLB because he can't rush the passer.

OLB will still be a top priority. This just means we aren't forced to throw him into the fire right away and let him develop properly like we do with every rookie we draft.

If he can't rush the passer then what can he do? I thought one thing he did well WAS rush the passer when used.

He can blitz! I mean he has no pass rush moves. If the tackle knows he's coming then he'll get stopped.

C'mon man, don't make me laugh at my own, please...:hihi:

Champ - Dalton gets kudos, and about the best we got out of LSU. We really haven't had much success pulling out of our own back yard.

Dalton Hilliard was a really good player, the rest mediocre or worse. I used to love watching him run.

Wilson has 2 more years on his rookie contract, he is not a FA until 2015.

According to Garic, Butler turned down higher offers to get another chance to play for RR.

Late to the party but I guess I'll chime in.

Love this signing, Butler brings us a Pass Rush specialist someone who's used to being around the QB. (something needed on our D') Ryan has coached him the past few years so he knows how to get the most out of him, and I believe he'll rotate in/out with Galette, and Wilson, which will provide depth if he doesn't start.

Really smart signing, which gives us Draft flexibility.. we still might take a Pass Rusher this Draft but with our 1st rounder we're just going to let the best flake fall to us. Whether it's an OT, D-line, Safety, even WR is not ruled out either. Payton loves him his Receivers.

I'm going to assue this is the same reason Nhamdi hasn't made a decision yet. He's trying to choose between money and familiarity.

It is, you are correct. Tez, was just young, but he was the guy that would get into the backfield for us. Sometimes Castillo or Smith would get back there, but nobody did it often enough, except for Tez and Smith, for us to really remember.

Man, you obsessingly refresh and check and recheck sr.com for days and then you miss ONE day and look what happens.

I really didn't think he'd come here but glad he did. And, actually, that it wasn't just a compulsive decision I think is good. Is it kickoff yet?

This guy is the perfect moneyball free agent! Efficient with his snaps at a reasonable price. In order to win on the field you have to be winning in the FO!

I think I remember reading that the Saints offered Nnamdi a "little more money". SF is offering him Nickel CB money because he won't beat out Rogers and the other kid (name escapes me).

I don't know how much "a little more money" is but money doesn't seem to be in the equation.
