Carmichael staying, per Triplett (2 Viewers)

This is where I'm at. Hit big in the Payton trade, tank the season, hire a new coach and get a new franchise QB either this draft or next, and we'll be set in 2024.

I'd rather do the coach thing now, but waiting another year is doable. Even with a new coach, I wouldn't be expecting much in the 2023 season.
Of course this plan is dependent upon the front office acting competently in the future and keeping Carmichael here definitely throws that into some question.

If this is a tank job, I guarantee we get picks pulled next season. We’ll be the example like cam Jordan and the taking fine. Just so happens weeks later today cam won his appeal.
What? First you say cam took the fine but then say he won the appeal. If he won the appeal, he didn't take the fine.

There’s so many words and things that I want to say on this forum but I can’t. All I will say, is that it’s another boneheaded decision by Loomis and makes me question how much he values winning at this point in his career when he clearly isn’t worried about his job security. There’s no hunger for winning with any decisions he’s shown us since SP left, it’s always whatever’s easiest.

Everyone hammering for a fall guy didn't get one. Im sure some people are really upset. It's why you shouldn't get so invested in one sided ultimatums. This was never one guys fault. It would have just been superficial. Injuries were the biggest issue and blowing it up is not an option right now. You aren't exactly going to have coaches lining up for positions in the current state. I'm fine to see them ride it out.

Loomis needs to go.

Refusing to get better because of long term relationships and "continuity" is just unforgivable. Let's not fire anyone, I don't wanna hurt my pals feelings...
I don't get the Loomis backlash on this one.

Like most, I wanted DA gone. But once Loomis makes that decision, the rest is up to DA, right? He has to be able to hire his own staff. If Loomis is telling DA that he can stay but PC needs to go, we're in Jerry-Land.

My biggest fear is that the next step is going to be a 2-year extension for Andy Dalton.
