Carmichael staying, per Triplett (1 Viewer)

In the last 10 games of the season, the Saints averaged 15.5 points per game.
Yep, I think the further along we got, the more defenses figured out PC's game plan. If we were seeing improvement late in the season, I'd be a bit more optimistic, but it was worse. Think back to Payton, when we're Payton's best games of the season? Nearly always in the 3rd quarter of the season. He had some crazy win percentage in November games when he was coach. Only thing that slowed the team late was usually injuries. Allen's team got worse towards the end of the season except for that brief stretch vs some bad teams and an Eagles team with no Hurts.

I’ll wait to be upset about this if we run it back with Dalton. At the risk of being tarred and feathered, I’ll defend PC in that:

1. Our rate of deep attempts and big plays per game from the first three games would be league leading if we stayed on pace, which goes against the narrative that we went into the season with a dink and dunk scheme.

2. Even in our last game Dalton was still overlooking plays downfield for check downs and short passes, one obvious play was Taysom wide open in the end zone while Dalton made a panicked search for his Kamara check down. He also had a shot at Olave in the end zone on the same play. On the play before PC called a great concept on the left side to beat man coverage that put Olave wide open in the middle of the field, but AD went with the immediate swing pass throw to the right that came up short of a first.

3. We called our most versatile running scheme in the last week to the tune of 4.5/carry. Varied formations, more linemen pulling. Did someone other than Roushar design our week 18 run game, and is that part of the reason they moved on? Could a new run game coordinator help out our ground game while PC gets a QB who can throw downfield?

Some on this board claim Dalton did the best he could with what he had, but he attempted and generated big plays at half the rate of Winston. That’s not the game we were playing when the season started, so we may have some hope with an improvement at QB.

The Saints deserve every bit of failure heading their way. This would not stand in any other organisation. Front office is an absolute joke. Easily the worse ran team in the entire NFL at the moment. If you think otherwise then you're in cuckoo land. Essentially force someone who publicly declared no interest in the role. PC was obviously backed into a corner and took it. Did a terrible job and here we are, business as usual. Just pathetic and actually laughable at this point. Embarrassing. Armageddon of Saints football is well underway.

I believe this signals that the front office is going to burn a couple of years at "status quo" to get cap healthy again. Right now, DA & Carmichael are joined at the hip.

The only defense to give the 49ers a problem was the New Orleans Saints defense. If it wasn't for two fumbles and bogus officiating we would have waxed those guys in SF. They are now in the divisional seat. Let's retool, and get some more helpful players and see what 2023 can do!
That’s cool, but at what point do players like AK41 and TH7 stop caring bc they are not being utilized correctly??? I don’t mean to question the professionalism of these two particular guys, but if I were them, I would be mad at the news of Pete returning

Everyone hammering for a fall guy didn't get one. Im sure some people are really upset. It's why you shouldn't get so invested in one sided ultimatums. This was never one guys fault. It would have just been superficial. Injuries were the biggest issue and blowing it up is not an option right now. You aren't exactly going to have coaches lining up for positions in the current state. I'm fine to see them ride it out.
Can't just blame it on the injuries. The coaching sucked all across the board. Every team deals with injuries. Yes, the Saints had a lot this year but we do every year. Can't just use that as a prolonged excuse. We will also have a lot of injuries next year. It happens. But whilst DA is HC & Pete OC for example it doesn't matter how many injuries we have. We are going nowhere.

Lame! Totally Lame.

This is what we're going with:

AK's agent: "Hey Pete, this is Alvin Kamara. He has freakish elusive capabilities, and in space, is a threat to score from anywhere on the field. Give him one good block, and he'll do the rest."
AK: "Nice to meet you, Mr. Carmichael. What would you like me to do on this play?"
Carmichael: "See those gigantic O-Line guys that have been struggling to make any holes all day?"
AK: "Um, yes..."
Carmichael: "Run right into the middle of 'em."
AK: "But what if I..."
Carmichael: "...A hundred times. Over and over."
AK: 😥
Dennis Allen: "Great job, guys! Keep doing what you're doing!"

That keep doing what you're doing stuff might be an organizational mandate at this stage. Really disappointing we're not going to do anything to change, it's not going to help dennis have a chance to succeed here. I think tom wouldn't have stood for this kind of season and make no real changes.

But do we know whether it was DA's decision alone to stick with Dalton, or was he influenced by Pete? If the latter, then it's kind of hard to defend Pete on the basis that Dalton was checking the ball down too much and not taking advantage of Pete's ostensibly great play calling. I find it hard to believe DA and Pete weren't of one mind about Winston not returning to the starting lineup.
