Chase Thomas UDFA [MERGED] (1 Viewer)

I don't even know why you bother posting nonsense like that here.

Have you even watched Chase? He reminds me so much of Connor Barwin in his play style and ability.

Anyway...

I've been on this forum for 4+ years and I've yet to see such an active and outspoken poster that brings so little to a discussion as you do.

I just don't get what you hope to gain from your posting style?

Throw me a bone here mate, what's the deal? :idunno:

agreed

Chase Thomas plays with GREAT technique. His body could use a year in the NFL weightroom but he is a player that could easily make this team.

Actually in the UDFA thread I posted (yesterday) that he compares to Barwin. I was just making a valid point. He ran a 4.9 40 (yes he also ran a 4.7, and a 4.8, but NFL.com has him listed as 4.9), not opinion, just fact. I don't know what I posted that was negative. How his slow 40 might be the reason he wasn't drafted?:idunno:

Another day, another video courtesy of DraftBreakdown.com. Chase Thomas hasn't made many waves this offseason in preparation for the NFL draft, but he's been one of Stanford's best players for years now and will almost certainly hear his name called on day two of the draft.

Luckily for Chase, he's put excellent production on tape for the last three years, and even earned high praise from SI.com's Andy Staples yesterday, who compared Thomas to Oregon's Dion Jordan, who is seen as a top-5 pick:

This obviously isn't a perfect system, and rarely do we get such a perfect head-to-head comparison. But when other factors are equal, I'm still taking the guy who produced more. Which explains why I would skip Dion Jordan, save my money and draft Chase Thomas. Anyone who watched the Pac-12 the past few years knows exactly what Thomas can do. The draftniks who only read first-round mocks probably have no idea who Thomas is... Stanford's Thomas (6-4, 248) will go three to four rounds after Jordan, and all Thomas did -- playing against the same offensive lines as Jordan -- was get in the backfield more often (14.5 TFL, 7.5 sacks).

A good fit would be any NFL team that plays a 3-4 defense and needs depth at linebacker. With that in mind, the Jets, Saints and Browns would be good fits for Thomas to step in and play significant snaps in his rookie year.

If you're looking for more videos of Chase, check out his games against Washington, UCLA and Notre Dame.

What do you think - where would you like to see Chase end up
Agree 100%. Watched him play multiple times and he is an excellent player. He's played in the 3-4 scheme already, and has produced for years at a high level. The only reason he dropped was his 40 time, maybe some teams did not feel he was athletic as they want, or some guy less productive but more athletic has "a higher ceiling"(likely never to be reached of course). James Harrison and terrell suggs ran similiar 40times as well. Will be suprised if he is not on the team, and does not play some meaningful snaps this year.

Impressive. I think he has a good chance making the roster. Pretty good tackler, just watching his video highlights.

16.OLB Chase Thomas, Stanford 6-3, 244
SIGNED WITH NEW ORLEANS
Really smart and a tremendous leader, he’s a tough guy who takes over a defense and makes it his. Stanford has had some terrific talents over the last few years, but this was Chase Thomas’s defense. With perfect instincts, he makes up for a ton of glaring issues with great timing and by being two steps ahead of everyone else. Not an NFL athlete, he’s slow, doesn’t have great quickness as a pass rusher and should have problems when the game is a half-click faster than it was in college. It would be nice if he could play inside, but that’s not really his game – he’s not quite bulk enough or strong enough for the position. He’ll never be a sure-thing star, but he’ll make plenty of plays and will be a good producer as long as he’s surrounded by talent.

He sounds to me more like Scott Fujita.

its pretty simple, he doesn't know squat about football, he's one of those people who thinks he knows football because he likes it and cheers for the excitement but really knows nothing about the game, kinda like my girlfriend.

Not a real fan... Just kinda likes it?

It's like 95% of "American" Football fans here in the UK!

I play Football in Scotland. So you'd think the guys on my team would have half a clue at least about their own team given that it's such a niche sport over here, right?

Well, I'd say maybe 5 or 6 guys on my team that consists of 58 can even name the half of the starting roster on the teams they profess to follow. The rest of the guys show up wearing different jerseys from teams in same division!!!!

I get withdrawals symptoms of talking Football with my buddies back in Lousiana :covri:

Maybe it's the overly blunt manner in which you post that just seems to take a stab in one direction or another without any real substance.

Dude I'm really not trying to bash you here, but I've seen a few posts prior to this and I've said to myself, "Is this guy just trying to aggravate people"

Add a little more substance to a post and spark a genuine discussion rather than a one liner that's gonna get a negative reaction.

Just saying dude, I'm not meaning to be an arse or nothing :9:

You just described Scott Shanle.

So funny... That's exactly what I was thinking.... If he made the team, he'd become a whipping post in no time.... People only like the underdog til they're not the underdog anymore (make the team). Then it's a constant barrage to upgrade him because he's not flashy...

I wasn't trying to be a jerk. Heck bringing a guys 40 time into the discussion as to why the guy wasnt drafted seems substantive.

Try not to get too hung up when you don't perceive people are agreeing with you. It's just life after all.:9:

People weren't down on Shanle because he wasn't "flashy", people were down on him because he couldn't cover a tight end to save his life.
