He’d be better than what we fielded last season. LolI’m getting to the point where I just want them to sign SOMEBODY! They could sign 70 y/o Steve Largent and I’d at least be intrigued. “Let’s see what he has left in the tank”.

I know right...running it back with what was pretty much the worst WR group in the NFL or SEC is somewhat concerning.
Very Meh on this signing.Chiefs bested offers from Saints, Packers to sign WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling
The #Chiefs had some competition that they bested when it came to signing Marquez Valdes-Scantling per report.chiefswire.usatoday.com
At least we know that the Saints aren't just sitting on their hands when it comes to trying to sign FA WR's.

I am sure the team is not satisfied with what we have so far. These are all valid points. However, we know the team never goes into a draft with a clear hole that forces them to draft out of need, and at this point the only guy they look like they will sign is TQS. Given the mash unit at WR last year, I don't know how anyone can be satisfied with that.
Lets get jameis some big bodies. I think thats his style
I like that they're interested in a big body guy with deep speed. Makes me think guys like J Williams, C Watson or A Pierce will be heavily considered in the draftWinston needs people with deep speed that can run deep routes. His best skill is the deep ball off of play action. Right now all we really have as far as a deep threat is Harty who is fast as hell, but he's also 5'6" and 170 lbs. That's a tough target to hit and at 170 lbs. he's prone to getting hurt.
Unlike KC, MVS wouldn't be a fit here. He isnt a regular go to reciever. Hes best suited to being a quick strike weapon. Gott one in Harty already. We have 22.6 million in cap space right now if we wanted to pay "slightly faster Trequan Smith" $10 million dollars a year we could have. I'm glade we didn't.
Much rather take TQS, his hands have never been that much of a questionBoth entered the league in 2018:
TQS............ 112 rec, 1486 yds, 17 TDs, 66.3% catch rate (51 games)
Scantling 123 rec, 2153 yds, 13 TDs, 49.8% catch rate (59 games)
$10 million per, max out at $12 million, 3 years
Nobody in their right mind thinks TQS should get anywhere near that contract, and many think TQS doesn't deserve much more than vet minimum.
Good luck KC.
Lol that was what I thinking. They aren't sitting on their hands but they aren't signing anyone either. It's good that they recognize the issue but at the same time, please god bring in some WRs.Is it better to sit on your hands and sign no star players or to underbid on every single star player and still sign no star players?
And that has always been our problem. When it comes to deep threats, quick strike weapons, it's Highlander.Got ONE in Harty already.
Yes, but the secret is out. Any potential free agent receiver knows he won't be catching passes from Drew Brees.Chiefs bested offers from Saints, Packers to sign WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Right now Cooks is BY FAR the Saints best option. Even though he has been gone for a while you have to figure the offense has not changed much and he knows it. The concussion issue is by far the biggest red flag with Cooks, but he can play. My guess is that Houston would deal him for a fifth round pick. Do the trade, if he balls out and leaves in free agency next year, you likely can recoup your pick with a compensatory pick in 2024. Also need to bring in a rookie or two and maybe another player who gets cut. Not opposed to TQS coming back on a very cheap deal. It's frustrating but there are still plenty of upgrades left in free agency. Nobody that is a star now, but Jarvis Landry, Will Fuller, Emanuel Sanders, OBJ, T.Y. Hilton, A.J. Green, and Sammy Watkins are available. None are what you want as a #2 WR really but they are all much better than Kenny Stills, Kevin White and the production we got from Calloway and TQS last year. So, you get one of those, develop Calloway and maybe TQS and then you draft a WR high in the draft.
It hasn't been done yet and that's concerning, but there are still options available and as you noted, we can also trade for a guy like Bradin Cooks.
