China: 20 tons of pig meat sold as halal to Muslims (1 Viewer)

Same thing happened to my father in law. He is an engineer and designs cranes. Earlier in his career he designed other machinery. People reverse engineer all the time to steal others' designs.

Yes but do they put the original brand tag on it and sell it as American made original?

At least we can trust them to make the correct "fluoride" recipe to dump into our ENTIRE WATER SUPPLY!!!! smh

Serious question:

How big a deal is this for Muslims?

Is this a, 'I didn't knowingly eat pork so I'm okay' or is it a , 'my immortal soul is now in danger'

I'm sure they'll be told that they're OK because it was not their intention. That, or they should cleanse their souls with prayer and/or explosives.

Someone just did a grave disservice to this nation by clicking the green thumb? Oh my.

Ill let BC have his + reps. I simply stated that the Chinese are renowned for substituting goods. I'm keenly aware as a defense contractor employee, of just how much they will, and will continue to attack our cyber and otherwise defenses in search of information. How would you feel if the Chinese had gained access to our new Virginia Class submarines under construction? I know I'd hurl. I'd expect that anyone reading this would, also.

You people need to let this black vs white **** go. We're all Americans. Some more than others. I don't just look out for my own. I aid in building weapons for the good of us all. It's that simple. I'm a patriot, and only get ****** when reading these forums. Otherwise, my life is just swell. I love my country, and I'm proud to contribute. I have no shame in stating just how much I disdain China. I've plainly stated just how dismal I think their human rights record is. I've made no mention of any Chinese immigrant or citizen, yet you two clowns would make it appear that Id discriminate against them to earn cheap + reps.

.The Chinese steal our intellectual properties, and are actively seeking to undermine our economy. Deal with it. I'm saying it again

I had a meeting with a client the other day who - no joke - sold one of their machines to a company in China.

Their sales rep visited the company in China, and apparently left his briefcase there as we was leaving, so he went back to where he thought the meeting room was to get it.

Took a wrong turn, and walked into a huge room containing more than 20 of "their" machines, complete with brand badges, labels, etc. Pretty obvious what happened....

This is why, in the long run, China will be more of a bogeyman than a threat to our country. This thread and your experience are common there. Their economy is so rife with lies, graft, and corruption that nobody outside of China even trusts their stock market. We think our corporate culture is bad....it is absolutely pollyanish compared to theirs.

They make great sheetrock, just ask Sean Payton.

Yeah mighty strange how my response was deleted, though absolutely respectful and concise. Ill let BC have his + reps. I simply stated that the Chinese are renowned for substituting goods. Id also like to file a complaint about being deleted and censored for no reason. Ill pick on the Russians next time, I reckon... I think that's just silly to delete a perfectly benign and reasonable response to someone attacking me for saying what more than a few others have also said here. The Chinese steal our intellectual properties, and are actively seeking to undermine our economy. Deal with it. I'm saying it again

I get deleted for saying this, while some other fool gets + reps while attacking me for stating so? Wow... What a country...

It isn't a black vs white thing and wasn't implying such and never questioned your intentions. Just pointing out a very broad stereotype of 3 billion people. +reps, lulz. You obviously don't pay much attention to my posts on the SSF if you think I'm rep digging.

Yeah, a lot of stuff gets reversed engineered and ripped in China. You don't think American corporations wouldn't be all over it if there weren't laws heavily enforced against it? Lord knows there are enough copy cat products on the shelf as is minus the copied logo. We'd also rip China's products but even if we stole a Chinese product we'd have to outsource it right back to them just to get it produced and in this case the "knock off" would be more expensive. Besides, what do you expect when you bring a product to the other side of the world and hire a factory full of people making $1.06/hr, teach them how to mass produce it without laws and enforcement protecting intellectual property? Companies don't care about knock offs, it is the cost of doing business. They'd rather have a small amount of competition from their own products in exchange for mass production at a fraction of the cost.

The Chinese aren't trying to undermine our economy any more than we are theirs. They pegged their currency to the dollar to protect themselves. They have a vested interest in our economy because it runs theirs. The only thing in Wal-Mart not made in China is the building and only because they haven't figured out how to transport it yet.

Yep, the chinese are notorious for hacking our defense websites. I wonder if the US has ever considered doing the same? I crack myself up sometimes. We all know that the NSA, CIA, FBI and White House would never dare violate the privacy of another country. Just ask Assange and Snowden.

Do we have more to lose in the hacking war? Yep. Hard to be mad at someone while we are doing the same thing to them.

There is only one way to change China and that is by changing ourselves by buying products made in the USA, supporting local business or corporations based in the US that don't outsource and quit driving up minimum wages to the point it makes us uncompetitive in the global market. Then we need to quit borrowing from China, pay our debt and cut spending in huge chunks but nobody wants to hear that. It is easier to just blame China. Our own greed made China what it is.

Nope, I'm not pro China or anti US, simply a realist.

Now that we've covered that, I was simply stating that the people producing knock offs and the people hacking websites make up a few percent of the entire population of China.

I understand your views on China, but their government is just as dangerous to their own civilians as well as our troops. I mean, their human rights record is really bad and they are actively trying to steal our military secrets. Whether it's a shot down drone or helicopter, they are trying to get their filthy paws on it. I sure hope there is nobody you care about downrange in the next few years. I have a few troops that I supervise really close to China right now and I would hate for some reverse engineered equipment to be used against them. ZK is right about China.

At my work, we're starting to go through our licensing options for our software. My coworker said something to the effect of, "In North America, a software lock should be sufficient. In Asia, we'll have to require a dongle." Then we did a webinar with a German company that sells software licensing solutions and I'll be damned if they didn't say the same thing.
