Clayton: Potential cap casualties, all 32 teams Cap situations* (2 Viewers)

one thing I'm curious about. Do we know what will be the penalties for teams that don't reach the 90% limit?

Everybody assume that TB will try to spend all that cap space but I'm sure there is a way to keep some of that cap space for next year.

I'm betting they'll sign a few guys to 1 year deals. They've done such a good job drafting that this rule can actually hurt them.

There's no penalty per se. As I understand it, the difference between what they spend and that minimum cap number will be distributed among all of the players on the team. So if Tampa were to finish the season with a cap number $10 mil below the minimum, that $10 mil would be distributed (evenly?) among every player on the team.

Per ESPN cap guru John Clayton, the #Saints are $11.7M under the projected $120.0M salary cap. And they have 26 UFAs on the roster.

Now you know why Reggie Bush's $16.0M cap hit is so important. The #Saints can create another $12 million by cutting Bush.

I don't think we ever had any intention of paying Bush's $16 million. There was always going to be an extension before his final year. Everyone is making a big deal over nothing, Loomis planned this 3 years ago.

I'm not sure if anyone has done the math yet, but all 32 teams combined currently have $560 million in cap space..... to sign roughly 500+ players who are about to be on the market. It doesn't look as if most players will be getting good deals.

They are not bankrupt...someone that worked for them there that out there, kind like an internet rumor gets started. The years they have been involved with Man U have been Man U's most profitable years. I love the how everyone thinks they are backrupt just cause they heard it somewhere. It is not the case!

Sounds like the cap floor will be 108 million, so they still have to spend 40 million at the least!

If you guys are just fine financially then why have you been one of, if not the cheapest team in the league the past few years?

So much so that you were forced to give a horrible contract to Clayton just to meet the salary floor two years ago.

well, maybe a third of these players are gonna find a team so I don't think it means much

Keep this in mind though...Every team is going to sign about 8 to 15 undrafted free agents, if not more, to minimal salary deals.

I'd think only about 40% of the actual veteran free agents will be signed. Not all of the veteran free agents out there are, you know, good.

Each team will have 90 roster spots. A lot of the signings we're going to see during next week's free agency bonanza will be "camp body" type signings.

I just don't like anyone else from the NFC South being under the cap. I wish they were all over the cap and hurting. Especially don't like the room TB has to play with. Hopefully they will overspend in an effort to get to the minimum spend...
