Coronavirus humor (3 Viewers)

That is up those individuals that actually are in the line of fire to decide on how they handle these types of situations. Not anyone else, IMO! Have a safe and healthy day. I have a family member as a professional health care worker and personally finds no humor in trying to alleviate any stress related to this; PERIOD! Not as it relates to patients, but also as a worker! It is not something being relished. Overwhelmed is putting it mildly. We are talking porential total chaos and a breakdown of hospitals. Just imagine.

I want you to just think big picture. Think like Fauchi is saying. Think what Governor Cuomo just conveyed, if you want to comprehend about the real potential problems. Open your mind. Think out of the box.
The big picture is this--Coronavirus is but one variant of the seasonal flu strains which plague civilization year-round. Seasonal flu in the US has killed at least 22,000 citizens and sickened another 36 million plus.

These figures are the reality of healthcare workers in the United States and around the world. To be sure, the virus is a nasty one, however, the Coronavirus is but another in a long list of ailments afflicting civilization. We'll get through it.

Causes of death in the US for 2018:
  • Heart disease: 647,457
  • Cancer: 599,108
  • medical mistakes approx 250,000 (added by me per Johns Hopkins study)
  • Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383
  • Alzheimer’s disease: 121,404
  • Diabetes: 83,564
  • Influenza and pneumonia: 55,672
  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 50,633
  • Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,173
Coronavirus--59. We don't want that toll any higher than necessary so take precautions and stay home if you're sick.

Now, I'm off in search of paper towels...

Your point was noted. Now you're getting preachy to the group that is way more aware of the situation than the common masses. The OP of this thread is more knowledgable on the subject than I know. Yeah, he's an attorney, but has had an interest and following this from the very beginning. You're trying to talk down to people that are taking this very seriously and understand the ramifications. This isn't Facebook.

I think i can still order my favorite t.p.

My wife is a teacher and I'm an OT in a nursing home, so we're both kind of front line in this. We find humor to be essential as a coping strategy. I'm sure you'd be appalled at what doctors, nurses, therapists, social workers, etc say in hospitals and SNF's. None of it, and I mean none of it, is malicious. It's simply gallows humor and helps us cope with the reality of our situation.

Why do you take exception? You should hear what soldiers in combat use as gallows humor.
my brother, the marine, has been whining to me about how hard it has been to find margarita mix in nyc.
