Daredevil : Born Again

Episode 3 was very good. Liked the courtroom stuff. But man... talking about coquis, and the ending. That hits home.
I've been to San Juan 2x for 2 Boricua weddings, that coqui ending was indeed quite haunting, I sat there at the end and just listened to those sounds reliving my visits there...

I didn't know why I thought episodes released on Thursdays.

The first one released over the weekend so we were all in the same boat. Never mind I made this up apparently
3 isn’t even in my up next, I usually check before I open the thread just in case. Least we’re good at spoiler tags

Whoa…
…even though I have doubts that was Frank. I think it’s this universe’s version of the dudes with Punisher stickers on their trucks.
And if that’s the case, I wonder if we get that panel where Frank is more or less telling the cops they are bad cops for emulating him

So I actually thought for awhile he wasn’t really White Tiger, he was just covering for someone
Once he was acquired, the writing was on the wall though. The amulet is still out there, so I imagine we see whoever gets that maybe go after Frank?

So now Matt gets to wrestle with knowing revealing Hector’s identity got him freed, but also got him killed. Yikes.

Edit: I decided to run through the first two again first, it actually binges really well

well, he did tell him he can't ever be the White Tiger again. Dude didn't listen.

But man, the coquis and the ocean waves at the end hit me in the feels. I spent part of my honeymoon on Luquillo Beach.

I'm not sure I would have walked off without taking the magical amulet that gives me super strength and speed. There could be a market for selling that at least. I guess that makes me a bad hit man.

Wow.

I knew the series would be brutal in its violence much like the original series, but this is really brutal. It's not gory, just brutal.

Foggy going down in the first few minutes of the first episode was totally unexpected and hit hard. Popped me upside the head.

As soon as he put on the mask, I knew White Tiger was going down, but I wasn't expecting the Punisher shirt. However, as someone else mentioned already, I have a feeling that wasn't Frank, but rather has to do with the tattoos a few of the police were sporting (the fact that John Bernthal wasn't in the credits at the end seems to confirm that suspicion), which leads me to believe he'll show up to take out the crooked cops who are stealing his persona.
Mostly, though, back to brutal, the calls of the coquis at the beach over the credits was more brutal than his death. That was just twisting the knife, big time.

I'm sure it's safe to assuming Fisk is going to fall from his self-appointed grace, and the above spoiler probably is the road that ruins him (assuming he's behind it makes the suspicion mentioned in the spoiler even stronger). I see his own pride and insistence that things be correct as he sees them being the thing that puts him right back to being afoul of the very law he wants to rule the city. That's probably a Captain Obvious statement, though...

All I'm getting is Devil's Reign vibes catered to the MCU. I'm perfectly ok with it too.

I knew Tiger was done soon as Matt told Hector he was done. Of course Matt will be tormented, but hey...

Some non-spoilerish views/takes:

I really like how the theme for Born Again is a play on the original series. That opening was the best of all the TV series.

I'm glad this Born Again is not 100% based on Frank Miller's version. But I absolutely despise the fact that I have to see Brian Michael Bendis' name in the credits. fork him for destroying so many of my favorite series.

I have a feeling the wife ordered the hit. She's still mad at Fisk for trying to be Mayor and he's not telling her what his plan really is. But, it could have been Fisk. Either way, I agree, this is the start of what brings him down.

Am I the only one scared to click spoilers in case I missed another episode now? :hihi:

It had his sort of “all or nothing”. I think Hector getting exonerated kind of broke whatever fantasy Fisk was playing out in his head that the city would just bend to his will like his empire did. He wants vigilantes off the streets, and now he’s mad the city let one right back on them (and after all that positive testimony to boot).
Which is a long way to say I think Hector’s trial pushed Fisk right back to his old ways.

Or it’s totally unrelated and plays into the “losing the grip on the underworld” subplot. Tomato tomahto

Wouldn't it be crazy...
Fisk loses it and kills Vanessa with his bare hands...
