To get rid of fleas you have to treat the yard as well as the house and carpets and pets. My tip for the yard is to sprinkle old coffee grounds around the perimeter of your yard and up around your house. This is an organic source of nitrogen for the soil and most insects do not like the smell of the coffee, so will locate elsewhere. If you need a source for coffee grounds in bulk, check out your local Starbucks or other Coffee Shop. Many have bags of spent grounds they save for "Gardening" so just ask. My Kroger has a Starbucks, so I can grab a bag whenever I shop.
