Dead caps the past 10 years - here's the manifesto (2 Viewers)

It comes down to drafting well, and that means not just for starters but for dominating players.

Yep. And like it or not, you don't get dominant players by being choosey when you're on the clock. The draft doesn't care if you think you need a tackle. You have to take the best player available when you have the chance to pick.

If you want a team like we had, there are going to be money issues involved. The saints were a Super Bowl contender for many years. Sadly, they tried to extend a window when that window should’ve just been closed a couple years ago. They spent an absolute boatload on Carr trying to extend success, when that was the time they should’ve tried going younger at that position and worked through this sooner. But, unless Loomis decides to get out the credit card and buy a team, 2025 should be about the end of the issues

I wish I could make this point easier to understand. It makes sense when you have a lot talent on the team. For a long time, the Saints had great talent on the team. I'd say even as recently as last year. It's only looked horrible because the Saints had an obvious deficit at head coach. The head coaching issue is being resolved but the team is much older now. It's time to shed contracts.

The strategy works when there is talent and the team is contending. That is no longer the case. They can now beginning shedding dead money.

Saving cap space for the sake of saving cap space at the risk of losing talent is STUPID. Cap space has never and will never win a Super Bowl. When you no longer have talent, get the dead money on the books. The strategy works. The Saints biggest fault is not knowing when to let a loyal veteran go. And let me tell you guys, that fault really makes an impression on potential players who value teams that stand behind their best players.

For the life of me, I don't understand fans that want the team to take the approach that has mired bad teams in mediocrity for so long. It doesn't work. We know what the Saints do work. Let them shed dead money and begin to add talent again. The Saints will be fine. Years upon years of salary cap space is my personal nightmare because it means the Saints are letting their best players walk and are not signing good free agents. Why are so many people pining for that???

Its because the saints are still signing players and giving current players new contracts, They sign Carr, Mathieu, Gay, Chase Young etc, Resign Kamara, Taysom Hill, Lattimore, Ruiz, Werner, Mccoy etc. I know people going say they let Williams, Hendrickson and Baun walk but they werent producing the numbers here, maybe scheme maybe coaching. Most players who resign here produced here. You're argument is they dont sign players but we had big signing almost and Resigning every year. Like the arguement is very vague. Who are these great players we let walk that Produced here, who are these great free agents we didnt sign compare to the ones we sign. I get what you saying in theory but it appears the saints remain active even though
