Last I checked, the PAC 10 agreed to the same criteria for determining the national champs as everyone else, so even USC acknowledges LSU as the 2003 national champs.

By hey...Stewart Mandel of Sports Illustrated voted USC #1 so that's worth something too! I'm sure Matt Leinart's grandma probably thinks USC was #1 that year as well...do you think she baked them some "We're #1" chocolate chip cookies to celebrate (in lieu of the crystal football)? Do you think they saved one of them for display in Heritage Hall next to the Heisman trophies?

...Couldn't agree more. I remember talking to several USC fans during that season when they were one of the top two teams, and they all seemed to think the BCS was great, it worked fine- but the minute they dropped to #3, all I heard was whining about how the BCS was fixed, unfair and bogus... Those SC fans truly are a piece of work; they don't seem to understand that the "boys from troy" would be no better than a middle-of-the-pack team in the SEC, competing with the Kentuckys and Mississippi States for shares of mediocrity...

Let me be blasphemous for a second, and say LSU beat OU 21-14, surviving an Arkansas-styled coaching breakdown when OU didn't pound a tired LSU team at game's end. OU takes an arguably healthier and better team into the Orange Bowl the next year against an unchanged USC team and loses 55-19. From a comparative score aspect, USC is justified in the threepeat. Look at USC-Arkansas this year. A conference can play at a high level and send beaucoups players to the pros, but college is a different animal. Until a playoff is instituted, it's a beauty contest judged by Herbstriet, Cook, May, et al.

I had to do that. I have only ever watched 1 USC game and that was hoping Fresno State was going to beat them. I reallly don't care about college ball at all. It is just fun to poke at LSU fans because it is such a sore spot.

On a serious note DadsDream, get some oxyclean tomorrow morning, soak it for a while then wash it again. Then take it outside and let it dry in the sun. Oxyclean and sunshine will usually get out anything. If it doen't you have no other choice but Ebay.

I agree that a playoff is the definitive answer to any questions but I disagree that USC had an unchanged team from 2003 to 2004. Most of the personnel were the same but in 2003 Bush and Lendale White were not starters (though White led the team in rushing) and Leinart was a 1st year starter. Granted, he showed exceptional skills to compensate for his lack of experience, but I can't imagine he would have been prepared for a "throw the kitchen sink" style of D that Saban would have brought. Jason White had all the experience in the world at the college level and we saw what it did for him.

The 2003 USC team was very good, but I don't think they were anywhere near the level of the 2004 squad.

Anyway, Texas ended any threepeat talk, hypothetical or otherwise. If they win out, they'll have to settle for 2nd title in 3 years instead.

BTW, regarding the original question: Sorry DD, but if the washing machine doesn't solve the problems for me, I go to the "buy a new shirt" phase. And yes, execution is a perfectly reasonable and fair punishment.
