Dennis Allen HAS got to go (2 Viewers)

Apologizing to Falcons is the last straw, get out DA. You never apologize to the Failcons. I can hardly believe it. SP let Brees throw a TD over Malcolm Jenkins when we were up by 25 when we beat the heck outta Eagles. Real coaches are hard to come by. I'd be pi** ed if my coach apologized for that.
Exactly. I was done with DA before he let that dribble out of his mouth but now I'm super done with him. That was Bush league. Big time. You scored a cheap TD in garbage time against a hated rival. That's nothing to explain away or apologize for. Good god man that's football. For the life of me I can't understand why he would throw the players under the bus like that.

That's when you grow a pair and say, "Listen if the falcons and Arthur Smith didn't want us to score then they should've stopped us." No need to mention the players at all. He's the head coach! Why admit that the players totally ignored him lol? Why announce to the world that your players were like, "Nah DA we're good on all that kneeling. We're gonna go ahead and score real quick. Got this new V formation fake out we've been wanting to try." No real HC would admit that his players are running amok. And there's no way the players would run a fake V formation if a real HC told them to kneel it. Can you imagine what SP would do if he called in the V and the players went with a Philly Fake Out instead? If SP lost his mind over Mike Bell wearing the wrong cleats then he probably spontaneously combusts if his team runs a trick play from the V lol.

You know except for a missed field goal in the Green Bay game the Saints would be 10-7. How can firing DA be reasonably justified? In all honesty, more consistent play in the run game and run defense would make this a 10/7 team or better.

Please recall that the Green Bay loss included a 17 point blown lead in the 4th quarter (defensive coach!) and the team has now missed the playoffs for the 3rd straight year despite the easiest schedule in the league - it seems perfectly justified.

But the Saints move slowly on these things so we will have to go through it all again next year before anything changes.

DA is never gonna be SP, some of yall need to get over it.

Is DA amazing? No.

Is he better than any available HC right now? I think so

Our players never quit on him this season, if you were at the game yesterday (our seats are on the 50 row 2 behind the bench) you could see the mood on sidelines, everybody was pumped, players were celebrating with DA and the rest of the coaches after big plays, especially the RB TD where he threw the challenge flag.

We just need a need OC (I’d love Gruden, Johnson definitely ain’t coming here) and a new OL coach and to hit on a 1st round OT.

We are close, just need to be consistent and let Carr get comfortable in the system because we are stuck with him for 2 more years no matter what

Shoulda, coulda, woulda! He got the coaching staff he wanted, he got the QB he wanted, he had by far the easiest schedule in a weak division and the team was pretty healthy throughout the season. And yet he still managed to miss the playoffs. Keeping him another year don't make sense at all. He had his shot.

Exactly how I feel, I said it before the season....with this schedule and division (though things don't always carry over from the season before, they did this time) anything less than the playoffs is an abject failure....anyone making excuses for DA is apparently fine with having an inferior HC.....

I'm wondering how may HC's out there are worse than DA.....we won 9 games despite this disaster of a coaching staff, imagine how many this roster could have won with just a decent HC.....

A good OC is not going to suddenly turn DA into a leader of men.....

Is someone here is taking receipts for everyone who has posted this type of statement?

If so, there will be a lot less posters and a lot more lurkers next year.
Did it Ditka last year, I’ll do it next year also unless there is marked improvement by mid season.

If Allen was on the open market right now, how many teams would actually have him listed as their first choice? By any objective measure, he is not a good coach or leader. It's amazing how many people have lowered their expectations in two years. The Texans are in the playoffs with a first-year coach and rook QB but Allen is close after his first winning season with a game above .500. He's not a good head coach.

Texans went 10-7…are they the bench mark for a good team?

I’d compare this more to the browns situation. Kevin Stefanskis record in his first 3 seasons are comparable to Dennis Allen’s in his first 2 with the saints. Without looking, I think stefanskis record the first 2 years are identical to Allen’s.

There are a lot of factors playing into his successes and failures as a coach. Bottom line is he’s probably coming back next season so I think it’s time people got on or off the train. Whining about it doesn’t solve anything

Stefanski won 11 games his first season in CLE. He won coach of the year and won a playoff game.

Took a dip to 8-9 then 7-10 and back to 11 wins this season, back in the playoffs.

If DA had won coach of the year and a playoff game last year I think the mood would be a lot different.

To answer OP, In his post season press conference just now he listed his accomplishments this year:

Better W/L record
Better taking the ball away
Better passing game

Thanks for clearing that up. I think the point still holds true knowing that the team is average. going from average in Payton’s last year to average in 2 seasons with Allen. The talent on the team is lower than the talent Payton had by a pretty wide margin(IMO) and nothing significant has changed as far as record. I think the argument could be made he’s getting lemons and making beef stew.

Probably right about the coach of the year thing but not every path starts with awards and accolades
