Derek Carr on Michael Thomas’ tweets (2 Viewers)

It’s not good business, even for Thomas, to consistently criticize the QB’s vision or to criticize the team’s ability to find a good OC on social media.
Thats sabotage and liability to business. He could’ve easily spoke with Carr on the phone or in person but he chose to bomb the team publicly.
Sure MT called him out last week in those tweets, but I don't recall him calling out Carr before, did he?

I appreciate MT calling out Carr because 1) It's good that someone is (and we know the coaches aren't), and 2) What Mike is saying on the way out is surely felt by the people still in the locker room.

Consider those tweets his public exit interview.

Dang, one bad ball ruined his season, and then I guess that bad ball took a time machine to ruin his season the three years previous as well. That stupid bad ball from David Carr convincing him to delay surgery so he could get paid for a year off. Why does it never work out for MT?

What gets me is he is frustrated about the lack of targets, but when Carr throws to him, he complains that Carr is getting him hurt. That puts the quarterback in a weird position. It’s easier to just throw to someone who gets better separation like Olave. You can’t make everyone happy. Only so many balls to go around.
To top that off, he wasn’t even really good this season before the injury. I remember seeing a couple of balls his way that were catchable. He didn’t even jump or try to catch them. Were they not as accurate as Drew’s balls? Of course. They could have been thrown better but if he needs accurate balls thrown to him on every play then what are they paying him for? Sure as heck not his YAC or getting separation to open things up for others.

What happened to “ we keep that stuff in house “ ? Isn’t something like that what he said about his fit against Mcoy ?
It’s become clear to me Carr doesn’t mind airing locker room issues when he feels he has been made look bad. He needs to shut his mouth if he can’t be more of a leader than that. Talk about what goes on with the Raiders. He likes to gush about that. Maybe some of the fast ball screen passes at the backs feet or the ones that make them turn around to catch and get blasted.

I seen enough of him this season. It’s extremely difficult to root for him because honesty I don’t think he is a good teammate.
I know many don’t feel that way but I do.

Michael Thomas is a possession receiver. Separation and YAC ain't his thing and has never been his thing. Feel how you feel about him but dang, at least understand what he does...lol.

Exactly…That’s what i’m saying. He didn’t do what he is usually known for, tough catches in traffic. Then he complains about getting hurt when that’s his bread and butter play.

Guess you missed the Carr interview about MT’s “feels”.

Actually, if you look at his catches this season, he had plenty of tough catches in traffic. (and yes, I just looked at a nearly 13 minute video of his catches this season). And it's one thing to make touch catches in traffic but that was an unfortunate throw that left him exposed and it was a freak injury. But the reality is, he made plenty of those plays that you said he didn't. He had more bad passes thrown his way and drops and flat out misses.

At some point, we just might need to acknowledge that the timing issues that they were having all offseason bled into the season, but there is plenty of evidence showing MT making tough, contested catches in traffic.

All well and good but if you can’t get separation and at the same time demand the ball.. what is a QB to do? Also, please share your video.

Timing issues? We don’t have Drew Brees in the building anymore. MT and the fans should know that by now. Only Drew could “time” the throws. Carr can sling it but doesn’t see the field like Drew. I think Carr watched a lot of film on Thomas but Thomas didn’t watch a lot of film on Carr. Thomas expected Carr to anticipate throws like Drew but that just isn’t him and frankly not many qb’s can do that. They supposedly talked a lot in the offseason but apparently it was not fruitful. Carr even mentioned that they had a MO to get Olave the ball more. That in itself was a huge mistake IMO but MT did not take to it well.

I'm all for the Saints dumping Michael Thomas in this offseason, its a marriage that should have ended a season ago. He is a guy that probably will never play a full season again at this point. However, Derek Carr needs to be better and that process better start now. No more becoming Joe Montana in garbage time or being the Emperor of Empty yards. He needs to play well from start to finish and play a heck of a lot better vs the good teams on the schedule from start to finish. He made a lot of frustrating boneheaded plays in his 1st season. You can't miss wideopen guys and throw into triple coverage. You can't get happy feet and check the ball down when the pocket is relatively clean and you're seeing ghost defenders on the field.

You're being paid well, you've been given a 2nd chance to BE THE GUY of another franchise. You can't come out next season looking like that. The stats are just the stats, in games when it mattered, you didn't play well until garbage time and that padded those stats. He didn't play well in many critical moments during the season and you can't blame it all on other guys. There were some serious head scratchers on certain plays.
