Derek Carr on Michael Thomas’ tweets (1 Viewer)

The MT thing is so sad. Such a promising career. In the last 4 seasons he hasn’t even had 100 total receptions and didn’t even log a 500 yard season.

Him and AK are clearly a shell of their former selves. Absolute legends though.
What were once promising HOF careers have taken a detour now that Brees is gone, and nobody since his departure has been able to recognize a football from a hole in the ground.

I would say that they aren’t diplomatic because he gives those responses when the criticism is about him.

He is much more animated and willing to point fingers when it is about other players.

If he more consistently gave the “we don’t play the blame game” or “we won, next question” types of responses, then I don’t think there would be an issue.
Since I’m getting older my memory isn’t as clear as it use to be but I don’t recall him blaming teammates or calling anyone out in press conferences or to the media. On the field, yes. To the media no. I don’t have a problem with players speaking their minds on the field or at practice. Say what you have to say and then work it out. Let’s take MT for example. I hate his tweets but if he had said the exact same thing to Carr’s face even on the sideline during a game, I wouldn’t have any issue with it.

I didn’t take away jealousy from it. I read it as Carr’s saying Thomas is frustrated with not being the primary target anymore. It’s been tough for Thomas to accept that he’s the complimentary #2 or #3 WR at this stage in his career after Olave and Shaheed emerged.

I think that’s resolved with communication by coaches. Either it wasn’t communicated last offseason that the pass offense is running through Olave. Or Thomas knew but still couldn’t deal with not being fed or not being the immediate read. Either way, being a good teammate should be a priority over constantly taking shots at your QB and team on social media.
Correct. Nothing he said insinuated anyone was jealous, just that Mike was dealing with a lot of different variables.

Carr did get angry at Olave during a game.

Please point out any press conference in which Carr openly blamed a player for something, any player not just Olave.

Getting angry with a player during a game is not the same thing as blaming a player for something during a press conference.

For instance, McCoy got really mad at Carr during a game. Remember what McCoy said when asked about it in an interview after the game?

So again, point to any instance of Carr blaming a player for something during a press conference or interview, since has been a Saint.

Gotta agree here  j/k..lol

Carr got pissy on the field but the "blame game" in the presser came from DA

We are going back to problem that a no separation possession WR isn't a good fit for Carr.

The accuracy to hit Thomas in tight coverage isn't a consistent skill set by Carr. We saw all season where his ball placement just isn't super consistent to utilize Thomas.

You also need great play calling to make it really work for Thomas to give him play leverage

No, I don’t think he has said anything during press conferences either.

When I said “animated and pointing fingers”, I meant on the field (where he has literally pointed at players during bad plays).

I did not specify him talking about players at press conferences, but I apologize how that seemed implied. I see how I wasn’t very clear there.

This statement here indicates that Michael Thomas will no longer be in Saint uniform come Week 1 of the 2024 season.

These players need to learn that it's no I in team, especially on the offense side of the ball. You might be the guy for a certain amount of years & the NFL is a very competitive risky business. You might be the #1 guy for the first several years however one injury or drop-off on your production will change the organization's direction in an instant
