Derek Carr on Michael Thomas’ tweets (1 Viewer)

Very mature response from Carr.

What a shame MT decided to burn his bridge like that.
Carr showed a lot of class in his response.
A very professional clapback.

A promising superstar careerabruptly transitioning into good role vet WR is a lot to deal with for Thomas as he battles injuries. Unfortunate that he had to take that out on the QB and whole organization.

That's a solid public response to something that should have stayed between them. Especially since MT's largely made his living making those contested high catches. For all of his talent, he does have the maturity of a middle schooler and it did not start when Carr got here. He's been like that.

Where was this version of Carr when he blasted Olave one week and then said when asked about how he cost us a game and he said "we don't play the blame game around here?"
Now that he's locked in here for atleast a couple more years, he's gotta give the professional responses. He'll be back to himself when we're losing next year.

This is a solid response but is he insinuating that CGM was jealous of Olave? I can rock with what he said but if that is what he is hinting at, that I can't.
I didn’t take away jealousy from it. I read it as Carr’s saying Thomas is frustrated with not being the primary target anymore. It’s been tough for Thomas to accept that he’s the complimentary #2 or #3 WR at this stage in his career after Olave and Shaheed emerged.

I think that’s resolved with communication by coaches. Either it wasn’t communicated last offseason that the pass offense is running through Olave. Or Thomas knew but still couldn’t deal with not being fed or not being the immediate read. Either way, being a good teammate should be a priority over constantly taking shots at your QB and team on social media.

Michael Thomas is a competitive guy. With all the success he’s had in his career, I can see him having trouble accepting a smaller role in the offense. He still believes that he is someone that should be featured, but I think with the injuries and the emergence of all of our young guys, it’s best for both the Saints and Thomas to part ways. In my eyes he is not a 1,000 yard receiving guy anymore, but he still thinks he is. I hope it works out for Thomas wherever he goes, i just wish he would have handled the situation in a more professional manner.

I didn't see it as he was saying Thomas was jealous either. Because Thomas complained about no targets until late in games it seems like Carr was saying that they viewed Olave as the number 1 so he got those looks first.

Being a good teammate is great, but at the end of the day this is about business. Nothing more, nothing less.
It’s not good business, even for Thomas, to consistently criticize the QB’s vision or to criticize the team’s ability to find a good OC on social media.
Thats sabotage and liability to business. He could’ve easily spoke with Carr on the phone or in person but he chose to bomb the team publicly.
