Derek Carr the target of parade float “joke” (1 Viewer)

It's CHAOS which I believe was basically formed from former members of Momus (I think some of the also formed D'Etat). Momus is the Greek god of satire and the Knights of Momus was founded in 1872 and was famous for very hard hitting satire and stuff that often straddled or crossed the line. It was one of the very old line Mardi Gras organizations along with Rex and Comus. Unfortunately Momus refused to let in minority members so it stopped parading in 1991. Which led to the formation of CHAOS which took over the satire from Momus.

So, this satire and straddling or crossing the line has been part of Mardi Gras since the 1870s and this group (or at least relatives of this group), good and bad, has been around since then. So, I guess in short, get over it. It's just a joke whether you find it funny or not.

Absolutely classless.

Expected more of this fanbase.
That’s what you get when a majority of the fanbase is from Louisiana. I have a rule when it comes to people from Louisiana, they are the coolest people ever or they are terrible, there’s usually no in between, luckily I know a ton of cool ones but I’m reminded of the others every time we come over there which is 10-15 times a year

I'm sorry the people of Louisiana don't live up to your high standards.

But, seriously, WTF? What amazing state with perfect people do you live in?

Don’t care. Jokes are jokes.

But my OCD wants to point out we ended up one of the better red zone teams in the league so fans are stupid.

That's universally true of fans. But, I mean, this isn't some article about Carr and it's not even a post on a message board about Carr. It's a Mardi Gras float making a joke. Of course, it's not completely accurate no does it go into the details of how Carr improved in the red zone at the end of the year which meant that overall the Saints were pretty good in the red zone. And yet, over his career Carr has not been good in the red zone so it is hard to know if the last 5 or 6 games were an aberration or if he has turned a corner.

But, you can't exactly get that on a float that passes by in 2 minutes. And, as Guido pointed out, these floats are planned far in advance so this may have been decided on early in the year when Carr was continuing his career long struggles in the red zone.

Is it because of the amount of money he makes?

Because I just don't remember Andy Dalton being metaphorically burned at the stake in the same manner that Derek Carr has been...

It's partially the money and it's partially because Andy was a backup QB that came in in relief of Winston. So, expectations were low for Andy and anything decent he did was lagniappe. Carr was brought in to be the starter and was sold as the guy who was going to fix the QB position. So, fair or not, he has high expectations on him.

And, in this case, it's because he's an easy target for a float.
