Derek Carr the target of parade float “joke” (1 Viewer)

Carr is either going to get and embrace the culture and be part of the City or he isn't. Manning embraced it and Brees embraced it, it's up to Carr to decide if he will.

And frankly, it's part of public life anywhere. I didn't go to CHAOS, but I would bet that the floats about Mayor Cantrell and many others were much more hard hitting and likely much more over the line than criticizing Carr about his paly in the red zone. I mean, it criticizes how he plays a game in a certain part of the field. Let's get some perspective. They didn't attack him personally. They criticized how he plays a game.
I went to a parade right after Katrina and the theme of the floats were satire of local people and events

If I recall blue tarps were a big object of satire

I’m thinking it was this parade maybe?

I believe you are right. A lot of people were not happy with that but that was well past the line of making fun of a QB who has historically been bad in the red zone.

Carr’s PR people need to find a way to capitalize on this—to show a connection to the city and that he can laugh at himself while also acknowledging that he can do better. He probably hates the float—he’s a competitor—but he could easily turn this into a moment if he wanted to.

Of course, a certain percentage of people will 💩 on anything he does, but New Orleans and Louisiana love a character.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Carr this season, but this makes our fan base look like trash. We are better than this.
It honestly doesn’t make us look like anything. It’s a float and Mardi Gras. They had zions face on a Popeyes float one year and nobody batted an eye. I’d also say Zion is far better at his profession than DC is currently. I have no idea why people feel they need to shield a rich athlete like he’s a toddler. It actually fuels to people criticizing him more. Whenever he leaves I hope some of you leave with him.

Derek Carr started playing better after the boo’s in the dome. He had literally the best five game stretch of his entire career to finish the season. If this float can light a fire under his arse, then good.
Ive been thinking about fans opinions and if they should chill or are just a bunch of spoiled kids. I rode the spoiled take up until now. I now think its important that the fans continue to voice their opinions, ie boo, etc etc. Why the change of heart? Because the minute we start accepting failure is the minute we become the "Aints" Playing devils advocate with myself: Yes, but does the booing actually help or do they even notice or care? Answer: They most certainly do notice, DA if i recall, literally defended DC in a presser. (remember he said, to the media, that DC had a great game now wheres is his flowers?) Does it help, the booing and constant negative takes? Yes, because they will continue to strive to overcome the negativity, as long as its based off of truth and not hatred. (its like using fear as a motivator) Can booing ever be wrong? Yes. If the booing isnt called for and it becomes a tool of hate, then the negativity gets absorbed into the culture (like the bag heads over time) then it'll lose its effectiveness. The moral: Be fair and be loud.

Been to just about every Mardi Gras for the past 40+ years and rode in Endymion a few times, go to the Endymion Extravaganza almost annually, as well as rode in Morpheus several times. I know what Mardi Gras is all about.

Still think its kind of messed up that this is the type of thing our QB (and his family) has to see during their first ever foray into parade season as a member of the community. It's a bad look from a national perception perspective.
its actually a compliment. Negative attention is still attention. If i were Carr, id be showing all my buddies in my home town, saying look what these crazy Saints fans are doing! LOL.

In passing on twitter, I read that Carr was on a float and thought to myself "finally trying to endear himself to the city, maybe there is some hope for him". Then I found out that this is what was meant. Brutal for him, but not unexpected. He's going to have to try a bit harder to become a fan favorite, but I'll bet he's nowhere near NO during the off season. He doesn't seem like the type that's going to make NO his home 12 months a year.

This was deleted yesterday. But this is classless and wrong. For a city that claims to be welcoming and supportive this display says otherwise. Looking at this he probably regret signing here. Now you have other players who might think twice about coming here. Out of many saints players, we are calling out this one player. This is pathetic. Try this with another player. Will some you feel the same?
Drew Brees said it perfectly. "IF you love NOLA it'll love you back". Also a city is like a woman, if you piss her off, apologize immediately. If you evade, blame and deflect and deny, the city will call BS, and you'll be screwed.
