Derek Carr the target of parade float “joke” (5 Viewers)

It's partially the money and it's partially because Andy was a backup QB that came in in relief of Winston. So, expectations were low for Andy and anything decent he did was lagniappe. Carr was brought in to be the starter and was sold as the guy who was going to fix the QB position. So, fair or not, he has high expectations on him.

And, in this case, it's because he's an easy target for a float.

Right....but at some point it's just unnecessary overkill (and I don't even care about just the float, I'm talking about alot of the stuff during the season).

Any fans who thought we were the 2020 Bucs (a QB being the difference in going from 7 wins to a SB title) were delusional in the first place, and have no one to blame but themselves for mentally setting the bar so high. Railing on Derek Carr repeatedly doesn't change the fact that their mindset was flawed from the start.

Poor Derrick Carr being picked on and mocked.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

What a bunch of crybags.

Kind of defeats your attempted ridicule when you misspell his first name (despite it being clearly spelled for you in the thread title).

I don't disagree about what gets posted on boards and on Twitter. In the end Carr performed pretty much so how we thought he would and how he was paid. But this is a float looking for a quick satirical joke. It's the equivalent of a one liner. Is it fair? No. But, satire seldom is since it's almost always based on exaggeration of the actual facts.

I also wonder what the reaction would be if it was a satirical float aimed at DA? I would bet that no matter how out of line or how far across the line it went, people would have little problem with it.

I will laugh at most things. This just isnt funny to me, not because its offensive but because it’s just not funny. Seems like it was effective at grabbing attention though.
but the riders committed to the bit - they overthrew many of the crowd who subsequently tore a number of ACLs

Some “insults” can be compliments

If he wasn’t relevant there would be no Jab

Seems like more of a welcome to city/culture thing

Carr is either going to get and embrace the culture and be part of the City or he isn't. Manning embraced it and Brees embraced it, it's up to Carr to decide if he will.

And frankly, it's part of public life anywhere. I didn't go to CHAOS, but I would bet that the floats about Mayor Cantrell and many others were much more hard hitting and likely much more over the line than criticizing Carr about his paly in the red zone. I mean, it criticizes how he plays a game in a certain part of the field. Let's get some perspective. They didn't attack him personally. They criticized how he plays a game.

Actually there was a post about a Fire Dennis Allen billboard......and it had similar mixed reviews:

Saw the float. Also had shots at Allen and Loomis. Didn’t think it was bad. Criticism to a degree is definitely deserved although it’s not all on Carr. Play calling and scheme along with personnel like o line count for a lot.

Right, it's not particularly funny, but well fitting with the theme of the parade. They do this every year about all kinds of people, events, etc. Nothing to take offense to imo.

But, that's not a satirical parade float. A billboard demanding that a man lose his job is vastly different than a satirical parade float criticizing play on the field.
