N/S Deshaun Watson tears Achilles again. (64 Viewers)

Somebody who's a cap wizard explain to me the implications of Cleveland trying to cut bait with him after his 100% guaranteed contract.

I mean this is going down as one of the most historically worst signings of all time, surely.
SP set the record for dead cap hit when they released Russell Wilson, I think it was $51 million, if they move on from Watson, it could top that.

Factory of Sadness indeed!
That's why we need to cleanse ourselves and ship Woods off to wherever someone will take him asap. I don't want anything associated with the Cleveland Browns around the Saints. It's bad enough having our own special brand of misery, we don't need anything Cleveland Browns related near the building much less in it.

His cap numbers were supposed to be $72.9M in each of the next two years, including $46M in guaranteed salary each year, but they apparently just restructured by adding some void years and converting a chunk of his 2025 salary to bonus so they can spread the hit out over the extra years.

This also means his cap number next year will be more than the $72.9 it was supposed to be, and he'll carry more dead money both next year and also in 2027, after they surely make him a June 1st cut in 2026.

Now do they trade for JJ McCarthy, draft a QB or sign a free agent or two?!? I even saw an article that speculated that Carr could be an option depending what the Saints do this off season.

I can see where you are coming from, but with his fully guaranteed $230 million, he gets the last laugh. Its the Browns that take this one on the chin.
is that the worst contract in league history? even worse than jamarcus russell?

And to think many and I mean many on this board wanted the Saints to sign Watson. Thank you so much Cleveland. The sad thing is all the warning signs were there but the Browns and other teams all drank the media koolaid.

What a wild saga. All of it.

Probably the single most reckless contract in the history of sports. Add in the draft picks involved, and it is the single most reckless and regrettable transaction in the history of sports.

This almost makes the Portland Trailblazers choosing Sam Bowie instead of Michael Jordan look like no big deal. 😂
