Did you go to summer camp as a kid? (2 Viewers)

I had my first summer job in 7th grade. I was a bus-boy at a seafood restaurant. My dad was hard-core.

But let's step back for a minute - the Chick Fil-A "camp" thing is neither a job or a camp. If you actually read the article (and look at others), it's more a kid-friendly gimmick than anything else. It is something that franchisees are doing on a very limited basis (the corporation has said that it is not involved) and the kids basically go for one "shift" - at one of the restaurants it is one hour, and the other it is three hours. The availability was just a four-day period during the summer and you sign up by the single time slot.

But they get a t-shirt, and food, and ice-cream and learn about how Chick-Fil-A works, they even get to help with the service. Kids love Chick-Fil-A, and parents probably see it as something fun for their kids to do for a bit of time. And the managers probably see it as a combination of community outreach and cultivation of long-term customers.

These restaurants aren't really supplementing their labor pool by having a few days where some kids come in to help for fun. And a kid attending an hour or even a three hour event at Chick Fil-A isn't a job and it isn't even a camp.
It’s propaganda
Deep fried propaganda …
with ice cream

realizing that more than anything I went to Camp Grandmas
My grandparents lived on a lake in NW Miss and we’d go up every summer for at least a week - we’d go swimming, canoeing, fishing, hiking
Head into Memphis occasionally
Loved going up there

i went to camp at Galatas Playground like a proper Kennarian....i was also a counselor for one summer :covri:

I knew you were a Kennarian despite all of your protests to the contrary.

I never went to camp. I spent summers swimming in an above ground pool, watching TV, playing touch football, and catching crawfish and turtles in The Parish drainage canals.

THAT WAS SUMMER CAMP- just so happens my mom paid for it when it could have been free. lololol

All we had to play on was the street. We tried tackling there and our parents considered it a bad idea. We did play tackle in front yards at times, but that ended after I broke my neighbors collar bone while tackling him. We didn't have a big field like Galatas across the street.

Curb was also inbounds and we didnt have a football...just a tennis ball.
