It was sad to watch all the eagles fans in the stands. Even when the Saints had the ball they were making a lot of noise. It sounded like when the Rams play at home with all the visiting fans. I was at the Carolina game and even in the fourth quarter of a blowout it was louder than today.
Blame ownership / front office. Seriously, what do you expect?

According to google, Louisiana ranks ahead of just West Virginia and Mississippi in average income.

It is $4.99 for a bottle of water at a Saints game.

Inflation has been insane and companies are not doing anything to scale salaries to adjust for it.

The amount of people I know who are season ticket holders and sell their tickets to a few of the high profile games and use that money to pay for next season's season tickets is... all of them.
Wow. $5 bucks to put plastic in your juevos. Ouch.

I kind of can understand the Carolina game because no one knew how good or bad the Saints would be but after the first two games how they dominated, I don’t and won’t understand how a season ticket holder sales his or her tickets!!
We keep telling you it’s more likely these tickets sold on July 18th than September 18th. Fan esteem for this team was the lowest in the entire NFL, Panthers fans were more than twice as optimistic about their team’s season than Saints fans. Saints fans ranked dead last in team confidence. You can read back on this board for discussions that were endlessly bombarded by the doomsayers, many of whom now sport a Banned banner on their name for how relentless they were.

Those tickets probably sold to Eagles fans on July 18th. No other logistical circumstance for travel makes sense.

Do you understand now?

Another side to this .
I live out of town in Mississippi and can only afford to get to one game a year, if it was not for season ticket holders putting their tickets up for sale l would not be able to have this very special experience
Was able to get 4 tickets for the Tampa game for $40 each, am taking my ( English) daughter and son in law to their very first NFL game
I do not know the person whom listed their tickets but would like to thank them anyway

I believe there are some franchises that are trying to crack down on brokers or flippers in more “in demand” areas. Some teams have limits on the number games a STH can sell before their STH rights are jeopardized.

Unfortunately, I can’t remember which team I heard was doing this or at least proposing to do this.

The sad truth is that the league doesn’t want to stop scalping and brokers and flippers, they just want to control the enterprise so they get the profits. Thats why the NFL Ticket Exchange was created. Why let the scalpers have all the fun?

Bingo. Teams get to double-dip on ticket sales this way.

I've never been one to count someone else's money but especially in this economy. People have to do what they have to do. Totally understand that. But I can also remember the days when the Saints playing in The Dome was one of the best homefield advantages in all of sports.

This isn't a Saints specific issue though. I've noticed over the last few years that opposing fanbases are routinely taking over opposing stadiums. When I'm not in front of the TV I'll hear the roar of the crowd and think the home team just scored. Go look and it's the visiting team. That happened several times when I was watching the Saints play the Cowboys. Lol it sounded like the crowd was 50/50. It sounded like a neutral site game between two highly ranked college football teams.

Season ticket holders don't have to explain themselves to anyone. They don't have to justify their actions. They bought the tickets and they can do as they see fit. Ideally other Who Dats could buy the tickets but we don't live in an ideal world. The only real solution that I can think of is for the Saints to be so awesome that season ticket holders feel like they have to go for FOMO. Winning and being awesome solves a lot of issues. Maybe one day we'll see the return of The Domefield Advantage.

The cost of everything is part of the issue too. After tickets, parking or ride share, drinks, food, etc. It’s a $500 day in most cases. This fan base has a lot of blue collar fans. Not everyone can do that every other weekend for 6 months. And if some fan from another team wants to pay 7 bills for a ticket. That’s hard to pass up for some folks. The NFL is slowly being priced out of range for middle class Joe. It sucks.
Along these lines I talked to a Yankee fan at an Orioles game 4-5 years ago. he said that to sit in the same seats at Yankee Stadium (lower reserved first base line) cost $350 each. the total cost of one game was right about $1,000. For about half that Yankee fans can travel by train to Baltimore, see the game, and spend one night in a nearby hotel.

The same for Boston Red Sox fans. hence why there are so many opposing fans at Camden Yards. he also added that for the most part Orioles fans are pretty cool as long as opposing fans are respectful.

Probably similar situation in New Orleans, but it still sucks.

The Saints are in a particular situation.
They are really one of the few teams that has a fanbase across multiple states. From Louisiana to somewhere in the middle of Alabama.
Some people can’t make every game.

I could see the frustration if you wanted tickets and couldn’t get them. I was on the waiting list for over a decade. Several seasons I bought season tickets on the secondary market with a 50% - 100% markup. Shipped from Vegas.
Finally bought some tickets for a single game and the guy next to me owned them. He had 4 tickets but usually only used two of them. He sold me two season tickets at face value for 3-4 years. Out of respect and appreciation, if I couldn’t make the game I never sold them on the secondary market for profit because they really weren’t mine to sell.

I don’t think there is a waiting list anymore. If you want season tickets you can get them. If you want to go to a game, 90% of the time or more you can get them at below face value. Bottom line is if we play a big market team that travels well, they will have a big showing in the dome. Only way around it is if more local people choose to go to the games. But they obviously don’t want to or there wouldn’t have been so many empty seats for the home opener when tickets were going for 25%-33% of face value.

I literally sold tickets last season for $5 at game time. I refuse to do that anymore. I’ll just take the loss when I can’t go to the game. I can’t make the first 2-3 games every season due to weekends tied up doing things more important than football.

If a Saints fan ever wanted to go to a big game with inflated prices that I can’t make it to, I would gladly let them have my tickets at face value. Otherwise they are up for grabs with extra fees and markups that the websites and NFL profit from. Local fans seem to want to sit outside the dome and purchase tickets for peanuts at game time.

I may have missed it. How did you get tickets for the Panthers game and what did you pay for them?

when i had season tickets i planned on going to 1 game a year. 2 if i could swing it with schedules and all that. usually sold 1 game to a buddy and 1 to my mom. but the other games i'd sell online. usually i'd make all my season ticket money back and go to one game for "free" basically. i'd barely break even.

is what it is. its a thread that gets posted a few times a year every season.

ppl have things that come up, family events, birthdays, kids soccer games. deal with it.

its also brokers that have tickets and resale every single game also. so its not just "saints fans" doing it.

Same reason people by a beach house and put it on Air BNB when are they not using it…. Or Rent out their RV when they aren’t using it…. Or Buy a nice car and take a ride share job.
I particularly love when investors buy homes in residential neighborhoods and turn them in to hotels and rotating 1 year leases. It's great for people that are house shopping and people that live in the neighborhood. I especially love when the house 2 doors down from me is hosting a 3 day bachelor party in the middle of the week when I have work and my kids have school. But then I remember that the oner is making money, and all is right in America.

I certainly get both sides. I have season tickets and have definitely sold tickets before. That said, I was at the Eagles game and my section (607) was totally taken over by Eagles fans. It kind of sucked. Wish there was a way to designate who you are selling your tickets to.

I know in England, in order to buy a ticket to a match, you have to be a member of their fan club and even then, you have to wait a year for it to vest. It's very difficult for outsiders to buy tickets. On one hand (as someone that just wanted to go watch a match) it was super annoying. On the other hand, I bet it is pretty cool to know you won't be surrounded by a bunch of opposing fans.
