When did I say we had a good coach?

Touche. I really just wanted to use Jimmy Graham's insane lack of use this past season another time. It was one of the most egregious misuses of a player I've seen and honestly think every coach in the building should have intervened.

I think the Saints need to heavily invest on the offensive side of the ball. No matter what the scheme is going to be. They are paying Carr a good bit, it only makes sense to invest on thst side of the ball. Either through draft or free agency, TE, WR, OL and RB help.is needed.

The Saints don't have a true no2. WR, Olave barely is a number 1. Honestly he's more of a number 2, but N.O is going to keep him at 1. Shaheed is definitely more like a 3 and Perry a 4.

RB position is a serious weakness, I just don't think Kamara has any juice left. Hrs played almost 3 full seasons since 2020 and hasn't had memorable performances. Then on his first start Miller goes off. That tells me something. Hopefully Aaint can get that physical RB, in Ricky, Duece and Ingram Style.


TE, at most JJ should be number two. Carr flourishes with a legit bona-fide TE, Waller and Cook. In his final season in Oakland he struggled when Waller was hurt even though he had Adams.

Would you consider Puka Nacua a number one receiver?

He wouldn’t be in our traditional drop back scheme but he certainly was a number one receiver in 2023.

I do think Kamara has lost a step. Hopefully, we bring in a couple of young running backs.

TE needs a rework for sure. But I wouldn’t count Taysom out. We can run jet sweeps, misdirection, screens and downfield shots with Taysom. Like to see how he does with wham blocks also!

I will never understand it. Never.

It was a circular argument. If you have a guy his age on the roster, he should be contributing on the field in some fashion. If he isn't good enough to, why is he on the roster? That's without even factoring in the fact that virtually every time we asked him to make a play, he did and looked dominant - like "most physically imposing and intimidating player on the field" dominant - while doing so. And if his seizures were a factor, again, why have him active at all? Why not come out and say we want to limit him?

Just a bizarre situation all around. It almost felt like he was being kept on the bench out of protest of the signing or something.

Apparently, that’s the direction we’re going in like it or not. If you wanted more motion we’re certainly getting more motion. I was at the Saints vs Rams game and all that motion was so annoying. Just run the damn play already!

But I have to admit that this style of offense puts a lot of tension on defenses.

We have the wide receivers. Maybe we can add one or two into the mix, but even Bowden performed better at the end.

“Do we have the offensive line ?” is the big question. We can draft a tackle easily in the first round. In this offense I like Taliese Fuaga out of Oregon state. He looks fluid and agile.

We honestly need 2 tackles and if there’s any draft to get 2 this is the one. Except, we never trade down.

I don’t like Andrus Peat in this offense at guard especially and even tackle. He’s a power run lineman for the most part and I can’t imagine him pulling consistently.

Penning, I have given up on but others have not. If he can get his head together he does fit this scheme. I’m just not counting on it.

From what I’ve seen of Saldiveri’s college tape, I like him at guard or tackle in this scheme.

So if we add two tackles and a guard I will feel better about our line. (Not necessarily in the draft)

Oh yeah, Ramczyk is way too toast to play this scheme if he can play at all.

As for tight ends, we need more versatile players who can block, and get open. Juwan Johnson is more of a downfield threat and doesn’t offer much in terms of blocking.

Taysom is an okay blocker and a real threat on any pass play.

Moreau is mostly a good blocking tight end who can be a sneaky option on PA.

So I would expect us to draft a TE in the later rounds. Someone like AJ Barner from Michigan, Ben Sinnott Kansas, Tanner McLachlan Arizona. All bigger dual threat guys. If Bowers falls to us then it’s a huge win but we might have to trade up for a tackle like Morgan from AZ.

I think Shaheed and Olave will be even better in this offense. And we should draft another RB if we want to have more explosive run plays.

Right now, we don’t have the elite QB and we don’t have the kind of athletic o-line it would require to protect whoever’s under center. We had some truly underrated/underappreciated o-linemen back in the early years of Payton.

Yes. He is way better than olave. Olave reminds me of Cooks a high end no2. But you wouldn't want him as no1. His play is way too streaky

I'm no coach and maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but it alwasy seemed to me that Taysom should be used as a Fullback/Runningback hybrid. He's not a inline blocker but it seems he could do the blocking of a FB and he would be a weapon as a runner taking hand offs and running routes out the backfield. Using him as a TE, even when just split wide, seems to be a misuse of his talents. He can do it, but it seems you could do so much more with him as a FB/RB hybrid. And, you could save a roster spot on a FB.

Even if they only used him when they were inside the 10 or 20, it should have been enough to keep him active on game day. They clearly needed help in that area and he provided it whenever he was given the chance.

I said early last off-season that Foster Moreau was a lock to be a Saint. I will now say the same about Hunter Renfrow.

Renfrow will be our slot WR in 2024…take it to the bank.

Olave, Shaheed, Renfrow, Perry - that is going to be the group.

Add Bowden to help with misdirection plays and you’ve got a solid group’s going

Yes I understand. Ice seen it a zillion times. Still doesn't change the fact that Olave is more of an excellent number 2, than a true no1 wr. Brandon cooks didn't fare better under mcvay than he did in N.O

We are close and easily there. His system like the original version of Payton’s system makes the individual players jobs easier. It’s a thinking man’s offense.

TE will need help and RT is glaring. But, the other positions should be fine as the Shanahan system doesn’t require the QB to hold the ball very long. So Peat at LT is fine, as I personally thought he played it better than he did at guard. But whatever they have to do to get Penning in the game they have to do. A lot depends on if he can play RT.

If we’re going with former Raiders, Mack Hollins would be a better fit for a McVay system. Good size, decent blocker, should also be cheap.
