Do you think we will ever see the day where the Saints will have a lifetime winning record (1 Viewer)

The team would essentially need to go on a super run that offsets its run of futility to start things off as a franchise.

We were well on our way until retirements got in the way.

Need 3 or 4 14-3 type seasons soon to really put some pressure on that feat.

Average 10 - 7 seasons for 20 years? Maybe, but I will probably be dead by then so no.

I think it’s more of a matter of doing what we had going under Sean, where our floor was essentially average, with a few 13-3s sprinkled in.

Can’t afford any 3-13 type stinkers, that’s for sure.

We essentially need to offset our 1 to 4 win seasons from yesteryear with more 11+ campaigns, and most importantly, no sustained runs of futility. Not impossible.

If you threw out the Mecom years, we'd look like the Yankees, so to speak.

That's what ownership does for you.

I think it’s so much more important that the national perception of the franchise has changed.
If you’re 35 or under, the Saints have been one of the top franchises in your lifetime.
If you’re in your late 20s/early 30s; a future HOFer has been the coach of the Saints for half or the majority of your lifetime.
You don’t have players run away like certain franchises. You have players now that are actually proud to be associated with the franchises.
It also helps when you see former Saints like Bush, Ingram, and Jordan in the future go into the national media.
It helps whenever a new Saint gets inducted into the Hall.
All of that is more important than trying to make up a few losses from the 60s-80s.

Doesn't Mecom sort of get a bad rep. I thought he was somewhat of a reluctant owner who was given a lot of (bad) advice. If memory serve he wanted Bum, which was turning out okay until Lansford.
