Funnily enough, of those 9

The top left (Marcia) became addicted to a variety of drugs and recieved treatment for it multiple times. The bottom left (Cindy) was involved in a pornographic film. And bottom right (Bobby) became a Grateful Dead "Deadhead" and was later arrested for a DWI.

Also bottom middle, the "dad" "Mike", is gay. Not that there is anything wrong or "thuggish" about that, I just feel compelled to throw that fun fact in there. It adds a whole new level of entertainment to rewatching old Brady bunch episodes.

Thanks Spam and peyton for spoiling the happy, wholesome perception. :angryrazz:

United States Crime Rates 1960 - 2006

http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/uscrime.htm

shows crime stats are on the rise.

Wow! That is interesting. Over the 46 years detailed in your link, data shows an overall increase in the crime rate in every category, with some crime rates jumping 200, 300, 400%. I didn't know that.

According to the FBI, you are also correct about the rising (violent) crime rate of late which is what I interpreted as your point re the original post. Violent crimes were up in 2005 and again in 2006 to a level near that of 2002. I don't know what the data is for 2007. I don't think it comes out until Summer or Fall of 2008. Hopefully, it will be down. However, if the data for 2007 and 2008 show a rise similar to that of 2005 and 2006, that would give us a violent crime rate higher than it has been in 10 years.

Either way, be careful out there.

Violent Crime, a Sticky Issue for White House, Shows Steeper Rise

By Dan Eggen
Washington Post Staff Writer
Tuesday, September 25, 2007; Page A07

Violent crime in the United States rose more than previously believed in 2006, continuing the most significant increase in more than a decade, according to an FBI report released yesterday.
The FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program found that robberies surged by 7.2 percent and homicides rose 1.8 percent from 2005 to 2006. Violent crime overall rose 1.9 percent, substantially more than an increase of 1.3 percent estimated in a preliminary FBI report in June...............
In 2006, for example, an estimated 1,417,000 violent crimes were committed across the country. That was a sharp rise from the 1,360,000 crimes reported in 2004 and approaches the estimated 1,425,000-mark reached in 2002.

Violent crime rates on the rise nationwide

FBI statistics show murders in the U.S. jumped 4.8 percent last year

ATLANTA - In Phoenix, they're terrorized by not one but two serial killers. In Boston, homicides are at a 10-year high. And with 14 murders since July 1, the nation's capital has declared a crime emergency. The latest preliminary FBI statistics show murders in the U.S. jumped 4.8 percent last year while overall violent crime was up 2.5 percent.
And in many communities the upsurge is attributed to juveniles........

On a quick count, I arrive at a total of 47 pics on the front page. One is of a white man. Two or three appear to be hispanic or mixed race.

Sure, not all are pics of suspects, but the name of the site and the glaring focus on one race make it evident the message being conveyed.

That's exactly how it hit me.

But you have to "go per capita."

 Unless you're Severum. Then, you're free to use "households" or just the actual count. :mwink:

That's not manipulating anything, that's collecting pertinent data and presenting a more accurate portrayal in a proper context.

It would be like saying minimum wage workers in 1960 only made $1.00 but today they make over $5.00 an hour and argue how that's so much better.
Southland, just refuse to accept any examples spanning the period from 1960 to present, just as others refused to accept your's - and call it even. :ezbill:

And you totally forgot that the Mom and the eldest son had sex. :9:

granted moons dui is not a thug type crime... but kidnapping, robbing , torture....is what thugs do...

i agree the website is garbage. however i dont think he was refering to the website.

to speak of what my first post ment is was sarcasim in reference to people denying the truth...
there is a huge argument about global warming and if its real or not. well the truth about crime being on the rise or not is the same...

I don't think it's a matter of people refusing to accept the example, rather, disagreeing with the way the data was being interpreted and presented, and making a counter claim that crime started trending back down after hitting peaks in the 80s and 90s. As you pointed out, hopefully recent increases won't be part of a continued trend.

My analogy was simple enough -- it's necessary to factor population increases in when determining crime stats just as you'd factor in inflation, for example, when looking at wages.

no disrespect intended david i actully value your opinions ..
however i posted the site and it speaks for itself yet was still rediculed about my statement even after i had showed proof crime is actually rising...
now this thread or my access has been altered so i can longer view it to defend my stance. remarks were made that i was racially motivated yet my stance has always been about the crime level not the race...

Of course the middle Brady boy is currently nailing a supermodel. So I guess it all evens out in the end.
