Dorsey VS Ellis (1 Viewer)

I think they are different breeds so it's difficult to compare. Ellis fits more into the 2-gap technique more than Dorsey, who is seen as a 3-tech.

Where do you get that from? Both are disruptive, pass-rushing 3-techs. There is very little difference between the two.

I can't give an edge to either; they're both solid prospects that will have fine careers. Who will be the better pro can't be determined at this stage.

I agree with that it is to early to tell. There are just to many factors involved what team they go to if they get injured if the big money gets them soft also the older you get the harder it is to control your weight. That has ruined alot of DTs careers.

good luck there ;)

Pretty much like asking the tide or the wind to stop moving.

As for me, it's a qualified tie. Ellis has a slight edge in strength, but as someone already menitoned, I think Dorsey has the edge on heart. Both are beasts who are going to disrupt offensive lines in the NFL and be pro-bowlers for years to come, IMHO. I happen to think that in 5 years we'll still be having this discussion - and still not have a clear answer.

It's like asking if you want Bob Lilly or Merlin Olson? Rosie Grier or Jim Marshall? Or for the younger folks, you want Rickey Jackson or Lawrence Taylor? (diff position, but 2 dominant players from the same draft.)

I don't think it matter which of them you get--you just utilize their talents to the fullest.

I think they're both outstanding but the one thing that separates Dorsey for me is his heart, attitude and character. Not saying that Ellis doesn't have these things ,I'm just more familiar with Dorsey being in BR.Speaking of, does anybody know how Ellis's attitude is and if he has any character issues?

i would go with dorsey because he is bigger and stronger and they have pretty much the same burst off the line.

You are completey wrong in thinking that Dorsey is stronger than Ellis. 34 reps over a month ago for Ellis and only 27 yesterday for Dorsey. Wait til next week when Ellis puts up 40 reps.

Ellis and Rivers were the two leaders on USC's defense, both in the weight room and on the field. Ellis is pretty much a model citizen when it comes to the character side of things.

I get that from watching them both play. Dorsey cannot play the nose position. Ellis can but while Ellis has played the 3-tech, he has not been as effective (in comparison) in that role IMO.

The way I look at it, at best only 1 is going to be available when the Saints come up to pick at #10. Therefore, this is a mute point. I just hope one of the two is still available. Either one would be an excellent pick for the Saints and an instant upgrade at DT.

Trade Up

Both are excellent, but neither may be available beyond pick 8 or 9. In short, the Saints should trade up for the cost of a 3rd round pick.
