Dos and Don’ts of Kitchen Fires (1 Viewer)

Popeyes, has great fried turkeys.:9:

Basically, don't throw water on a grease fire. But it only showed what to do if a pan of grease on a stovetop catches fire. Seems a grease fire from a fried turkey would be a bit more complicated.

Every year some moron is on the news for burning his house down while frying a turkey indoors.

My wife had a grease fire one day when I wasn't there. She knew she wasn't supposed to throw water on the fire, so she thew a glass of milk instead......

Also, make sure that turkey is thawed before you throw it in the fryer.

Thanks, problem with people frying turkeys, is that they usually put too much oil in the pot, for the size of the bird. If so, LOOK OUT, hope you're not near the house.

I just sent this to a PM, but I'll post it here too.

"Where so many of these clowns get hurt is boiling the oil way too hot or using an oil that has a much lower flash point. Add insult to injury, they either put the turkey in too fast (dropping it in) or pull it out too fast and slosh the oil in to the flame.
Happens all the time"

that time of year

have a happy thanksgiving everyone

Thanks, Mythbusters did a show on this a few weeks ago, very sobering to see how high the flame shoots with just a very little amount of water.

Thanks for that -- I just showed the video to my kids. I had always heard that you should not throw water on a grease fire but I had never seen the results.

This is one of those things that schools should show children. This, and what can happen from sleeping with an unclean woman.
