My boss and I were discussing these sodas the other day. I am not much of a soda drinker but last week we were in St. Louis and he was going into the gas station and asked if I wanted anything. He. came back with a Dr. Pepper. I pointed out his error and he told me, "does it matter, they both taste the same."

I don't believe they do. Thoughts?

at least mister pibb and doctor chek are properly punctuated whereas "durr pepper" isn't

which makes the pole suspect

I have not seen a Mr Pibb since 1985.. but i do remember liking them... That said, anyone who says ‘They’re all the same‘ - when bringing you back a drink other than what you specifically requested - deserves to be punched in the mouth, boss or not.

I think they taste the same, but I'd usually pick Dr Pepper.

Yeah, I was kind of surprised to read that Mr. Pibb still existed. Like you said, it’s been gone from Louisiana and Mississippi since the mid-1980s.

I rarely drink soda any more, but I always preferred Dr Pepper over Mr. Pibb. Much like Sprite and 7Up, Pibb is a little sweeter than Dr Pepper, though not as much as Sprite is over 7Up. I'll drink 7Up, but I don't like Sprite at all, way too sweet. Mr. Pibb isn't overkill like that, but I do like the slightly less sweet Dr Pepper better.

Nowadays, though, on the rare occasion I do have a soda, I opt for Barq's.

Come to think of it, I believe ive seen at movie theaters, or somewhere, a fountain drink called “Pibb XXtra” or some such nonsense.. who knows how it compares to the actual Mr Pibb, but if they couldn’t be bothered to stay true to the original name, then i cant be bothered to try it.

I am old.

When I drank soda, I liked the opposites for the exact opposite reason. Now, I may have a total of 2-3 sodas a year and it's probably Barq's.
