I've had many of those at the Gold Mine and they really do taste like Dr. Pepper. Than again after about 8 of them, everything tastes like Dr. Pepper.

Mr Pibb and Dr Pepper are like Coke and Pepsi.
They do not really taste the same, but both taste similar enough...

Coke & Pepsi are nowhere near similar enough, Pepsi makes me vomit. I can taste the difference between Pibb & Pepper, and both are good but in a different way. HOWEVER, Dr P has come out with a Dr Pepper Cream Soda that is TO DIE FOR!!!

honestly, if I had to choose from coke or pepsi. I do like Pepsi better. Pepsi used to make a real sugar version during the summer, not sure if they still do it, the real sugar made it even better.
But when I drink soda, it's usually Coke zero. it tastes better than the Pepsi version.

Mountain Dew is a Pepsi product that I really like and is my choice whenever it is available. A few years ago they came out with the "real" sugar version that I don't like since you can actually feel that is isn't fully dissolved into the mix. It is grainy.

I dont “party” much anymore now that I’m in my 40s.. but back in the times when i was more of a partier, Mountain Dew was my go-to drink of choice becuase it has by far the highest caffeine content of any major soft drink on the market.. if memory serves, Dr Pepper is #2.. of course there was also the great ‘Jolt Cola’ (“All the sugar, Twice the caffeine”) - which I believe can still be found in some niche markets... Anyhow, if i were going to be ‘partying’ back then, I’d have a Big Gulp sized Mountain Dew and then i could party til the wee hours.. the first place i ever had a Mountain Dew in life was at the Popeyes corner of Veterans & David Dr in Ke-Metry , circa the late 1970s when i was about 5.. I can still remember how sweet and delicious this new concoction tasted with the spicy chicken....... These days i have a Mountain Dew about twice a year or so, for me it’s probably like most people are about doing recreational drugs lol

My boss and I were discussing these sodas the other day. I am not much of a soda drinker but last week we were in St. Louis and he was going into the gas station and asked if I wanted anything. He. came back with a Dr. Pepper. I pointed out his error and he told me, "does it matter, they both taste the same."

I don't believe they do. Thoughts?

I can taste the difference. I love Mr Pibb whenever I drink a soda. I don’t drink soda often though. Been a while since I had one, I might buy a 6 pack of them.

I rarely drink soda any more, but I always preferred Dr Pepper over Mr. Pibb. Much like Sprite and 7Up, Pibb is a little sweeter than Dr Pepper, though not as much as Sprite is over 7Up. I'll drink 7Up, but I don't like Sprite at all, way too sweet. Mr. Pibb isn't overkill like that, but I do like the slightly less sweet Dr Pepper better.

Nowadays, though, on the rare occasion I do have a soda, I opt for Barq's.

Well said all the way around, Drew. I do drink “cokes” — Barq’s RB and Dr. Pepper. (Dr. Pepper has a little more of that “Barq’s bite” than Mr. Pibb)
