Draft or Trade Down (9 Viewers)

In my opinion Tetairoa McMillan is another prospect you don't trade down if he is sitting there at 9.

If those 3 are gone it would behoove the Saints to trade back & pick up another 2nd round pick to fill needed positions.
I can agree with that

I have a couple of guys that I would draft at 9 if available, but they won't be. Only team I can see being compatible with us would be SP and his Broncos. I would take a swap of 20 for 9 with us getting their 2026 1st rounder.

Gives us ammo for next years QB crop as well as still having a high enough pick for a decent player to draft this year.

Jeanty, Warren and Graham. Dart but only if Moore has complete belief in him as "his guy". But to me, Jeanty, Warren and Graham are the 3 I want at @9. It's really possible all 3 are off the board by the time we pick in which I want to trade down.
I'm with this. If our top guy or one of our top guys is there, just take him. If all of the top players on our board are taken by 9, then I would consider trading down. We need a lot of help across the board so stockpiling picks, especially in Moore's first year isn't a bad idea. However, if a serious playmaker that will help define what this new Saints team is going to be is there, then absolutely pull the trigger.

Most of the reasons for people wanting to trade back are the same reasons teams wouldn't want to trade up. I think they'll draft at 9 without getting serious offers to move off of the pick. Not a great class for top end talent.

I like Dart, but I think we could trade back and still get him.

I would trade down no matter who fell to us at #9 if the haul is good. The better the player to fall, the better the bounty. I think a trade back into the late teens or early 20s, plus a 2nd and a 3rd, and a pick next year would be ideal. We really need to recoup some of the picks we've traded away over the past 5 years. We've drafted the least amount of players of any team over that period and our depth shows it. We need as many 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounders as we can get.
This x 100. If Genty, Sanders or Ward or someone unexpected were to fall to us at 9 and we could trade back to 20-25, this could be just the break that our franchise needs to turn things around. Heck, if we could package Taysom plus our 9th, we could get their 20, 2nd rd and their 3rd. Without Taysom, we could get their 2nd and 4th.

It's not that far fetched really. Could you imagine the 20th. 2 2nds, 3 3rds and 2 4ths, 5th and 7th. Instant depth that we need. This doesn't count if we get something for any other veteran trades.

I'd rather spread out over a couple years honestly. It's a bit useless to draft all those guys if you just have to cut em in camp. I don't trust our cap situation and hate to let another player develop just to exit when they are breaking out.

Oh man, it's going to take at least 2 or 3 drafts like this to rebuild our base of younger players. It's these kinds of drafts that allow you to cut overpriced veterans and avoid being forced to keep players on their second contract. Avoiding too many huge contracts and reloading with smart draft picks and well researched, lower price free agent contracts is what builds dynasties.

The Eagles formula is the one to emulate. The Patriots used to follow the same formula.
