Draft or Trade Down (12 Viewers)

Oh man, it's going to take at least 2 or 3 drafts like this to rebuild our base of younger players. It's these kinds of drafts that allow you to cut overpriced veterans and avoid being forced to keep players on their second contract. Avoiding too many huge contracts and reloading with smart draft picks and well researched, lower price free agent contracts is what builds dynasties.

The Eagles formula is the one to emulate. The Patriots used to follow the same formula.
Second contracts are fine for your best picks. Most players hit their 2nd contracts when they are in or are about to reach their physical primes. It's those 3rd and 4th contracts that we should be avoiding and loading up on drafted talent is the way to make those expendable. As much as I love some of our veteran players, it would be nice to have let them go the year before they start their declines instead of having to watch it.

That can only happen if we at the very least use all of our draft picks and right now while we have a pretty big talent deficiency we should be trading back to get more picks. That's why I loved the Lattimore trade last year. We got something for a guy who appeared to be declining because of health. We need to do this more often.

In this order , Carter , T-Mac , Grahamare gone my 1st choice is to trade down to 13 and take Warren , I say 13 because I don't think Warren gets past the Colts, even if we only get a 3rd for the trade. If that trade is not available then move down to about the low 20's and take Grant or Nolan or even one of the top edge guys and pick up a 2 and a 3. With the 2nd I'm hoping to get either Harris or Loveland and then it's BPA at a position of need

In this draft we really need some DL and OL. There are a ton of good DT - some of the guys marked as Day 2 prospects would be Day 1 last year or other years - and DE and we need a Guard more than a tackle. Therefore, it might make a lot of sense to trade back. If we could move back and get a couple extra picks in the first 3 rounds this would be best case for us. It is also possible we take an OT like Campbell or Banks at 9 and move Penning to Guard; so there is a scenerio where I see us using the pick.

I'll bet $$ we do not take an OL @9

T Mac and Graham are the only guys I’m not trading down if they’re there. I really want us to trade down and get an extra 2nd and more.

Campbell looking like a better guard than tackle from what I have read an heard

Pretty sure Abdul Carter, Hunter, Ward, Shedeur, & Graham will be gone by the time we’re up. Of the prospects left on the board, i’d stay at 9 & pick TMac, Mike Green or Walter Nolan.

I don’t know why people aren’t talking about it. IF Cam Ward or Sanders are viewed by Mickey Loomis and company as a can’t miss, generational talent, franchise Qb, then you do what it takes to trade up and get him. Imagine one of those guys having a Mahomes type impact for another team, we’d feel pretty stupid.

I wouldn't be opposed to trading down. This team needs an influx of young talent.

See your point but at what cost? How many picks is too much?
Talking about the same GM that tried to sign Deshaun Watson and settled on Carr... not sure I want Mickey having any say on our QB direction...

This board is going to be quite interesting on Draft Day? Think about this, Completely NEW COACH and majority of us here HAVE NO IDEA OF DRAFT PATTERN. Which brings me to this? I wonder how many are gonna call out Coach Moore after Draft Day? { yes, we definitely know there will be some} He is gonna suck, hes way over his head, blah blah. Imo, should be a slight tell tale sign of which direction we are headed towards for yr one. Does CM go all in on DEFENSE FIRST? 90% Offense 10% Defense..etc. Regardless of who they choose, we all must remain grounded as to this is a NEW CHAPTER and the old book is gone.
