Eagles fired their OC Brian Johnson (1 Viewer)

Interesting….. I don’t put the eagles fall off on him..:
Scapegoat. Easier to fire the OC than get rid of a QB you way overpaid for. Gimmick QBs don't have QB skills to fall back on when forced to play QB.

I wonder if Shaq Davis is rethinking signing there.

Yeah Johnson was their QB coach from 2021-2022 and developed Hurts into a prominent QB in their top 3 offense in ‘22.

Still from 3rd to 7th isn’t a big dropoff worth firing. Hurts’ injuries that he played through and lack of WR depth was more to blame than Johnson. Sirianni had to convince the FO to keep his job by using quality coaches as scapegoats.
Some view that as a weak move, throwing your coordinators under the bunch. The HC has an offensive background, right?

The Titans, Chargers and Falcons are all going to be brand new staffs that will likely have 3 years minimum to show something. All 3 also have top 10 picks in this years draft. The Bears have the 1st and 9th picks in the draft and could turn things around quickly with a new OC and a few better players.

We have an underachieving team with an apparent leadership void, disgruntled players, a HC on the hot seat, an aging roster, bad cap situation and the 14th pick. I really don't think we're as attractive as some people think.
This! Fans don’t wanna hear it but our team is at the bottom of every OC opening list. Your post summed it up perfectly.

I think some just see a name and say anything. To the people saying bring him in or interview him, have you actually payed any attention to the Eagles? Brian Johnson is absolutely terrible, one of the worst OC’s in the league, if not the worst.

Best example is the lack of any sort of offensive gameplan against the Bucs. Everyone knows Bowles likes to bring pressure and yet in obvious blitz situations Johnson was calling go routes and curls, no quick developing plays, crossing routes or just generally anything over the middle. He’d be an absolute disaster here.

Compared to other teams’ coordinator or staff vacancies, Saints are in better position in FO/coaching stability and identifying talent than most. Titans, Chargers, Bears, and Falcons finished worst than the Saints and still climbing to be above .500 again. Saints aren’t that far from playoff return.
True but that's as much about the competition as anything else. Making the playoffs is no great accomplishment these days.

They went 11-6 and made the playoffs. There's a difference.
Made the playoffs on the strength of starting out 10-1. They were among the league’s very worst teams, record wise, in the second half of the season.

Sirianni should’ve gotten fired for a 1-5 L6 and a wildcard exit. He bought himself a year with their FO by putting blame on the OC which is weird because he’s the lead offensive mind in the building.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. It's pretty clear to all that the offense mostly held the Saints back this season, and they were one game away from the playoffs and have some very good pieces to work with on offense. I don't see how anyone hoping to be an OC doesn't look at the Saints and get excited because the pieces to be good are already there. If DA gets a good OC, they are winning the division next year.
Because several times the players and the coaches poked at each other several times, and the GM doubled down on the players. That’s an awful situation to work in.
Also, for the time being we have a terrible OL, not the best to make you shine as an OC

Damn....bet he was Thunderstruck by that news.
