Eagles' Sheldon Brown: "You don't fool with him." article 9/18 (2 Viewers)

I think the wildcard in this game will be the play of our defense...We all know how good the Eagles' defense and our Offense are...Their offense can be scary as well with a healthy McNabb...But one thing our defense has shown the ability to do is force turnovers, throughout preseason and into the Det game, we forced 3 turnovers a game except for the last Preseason game against Miami.

Against another first time starter in Kolb, I really believe we will continue this trend, and hopefully get that first Defensive score that Williams has been calling for...If we force 2 or more takeaways and/or get a defensive score, the Eagles will have a very tough time...JMO

The Eagles O didn't look great on Sunday. If I recall correctly, I think they only really had 1 impressive drive. Their D gave them 5 INTs which resulted in either a TD or great field position (most of the time), they got a fumble, and punt returned for a TD.

I'm not saying they aren't a good O, but Sunday wasn't necessarily a good showing for them.

Williams sounds pretty creative....changing things up and not following the norm. This is what we witnessed last week from McDermott as well....some of the things he did with Cole was amazing...up the middle like a LB, etc. I'm excited to see how McDermott gameplans for the Saints. Week 2 will confirm if last week's outcome was just an anomaly (which I truly dont think!), or if we're really in good hands on defense.

You don't think 7 takeaways and a TD is an anomaly? I'm sure your defense is good, but that was a combination of good defense and terrible offense.

McCoy and Celek looked pretty good, but McNabb's scrambling ability was what looked like it might cause the biggest headaches. Kolb does have a big-league arm though, it'll be interesting to see how much Reid uses on the run game to take some heat off of the QB and to setup deep shots in the play action game. This guy definitely has the arm to get it out there.

For me the wildcard is the special teams. From what I read the Eagles have very good special teams (I haven't had a chance to see them over here in the UK). We had big problems last week. That's not good. With McNabb out I'm confident we'll outscore the Eagles offensively, but it won't be by much, and poor special teams play could be the difference.

DsebastianEagles? Spam?

ST is one of our solid strengths. Djax is amazing at PR....he scored a TD last week. Once he breaks through, no one can catch this kid. KR goes to Maclin, if he's not too scared to get hit lol. Sav Rocca has been consistent with his punts and Akers looks to be solid once again. Plus we have many options to backup PR/KR.

We cut Baskett this week though...he was one of our excellent blockers on ST so I'm not sure how this will impact us on return coverage.

I like to think of it as a sign of what's to come

but realistically, this is why most Eagles fans will be anxious to watch this game unfold. Then we'll know. McDermott's debut as a DC couldn't have gone any better though.

There is no excuse for us not beating them.
This game is definitely the pivotal game for the first half of the season.

Really enjoyed the commentary you are all sharing...nice to see actual football talk instead of unsubstantiated trash.
In all honesty, your O with whoever at QB and Westbrook will be a good matchup with our D as well, and should offer us a fairly good measuring stick to where we have developed.

our run defense has been good or at least good in games...against the vikings last year comes to mind I think AP ran like 30 times for 20 yards or something like that, it was always our secondary..which is revamped and Sharper...man I am so glad we have him so we don;t have to watch Bullocks birdwatching back there anymore. Our offense has been #1, #3, and #1 the last 3 years, we still have all those roots and with a healthy Shockey and Devery seemingly breaking out this season I don;t see any reason for our offense to fall in the ranks much if at all. 27 points on our defense against the lions is so blah...read post after post of the reason for this(special teams)..which to my pleasure will include Roby who was an outstanding gunner in that area that we cut for w/e reason. I hope the eagles defense plays as good as it did last week and I hope the same from our offense...I want to see the best vs the best and that might be what our teams have. The only thing kinda scary about the eagles offense imo is a screen pass to Westbrook, we can stop him from running and I am actually pretty confident in our secondary, but it will take good to great OLB play to contain the screen to BR and even though "The Shanle" had a great game last week...dare I say it was only the lions? Should be a great game no question about it...that is why it is pretty much on tv all over the country, but I honestly do like our chances...of course that might be a tad biased :)

good luck lets have no injuries.

I do think you guys have a good defense, but last week was an outlier IMO. On 3 of the 4 INTs last week, Delhomme had zero pressure on him and simply made bad throws. On the other INT he threw that was a result of pressure, he tried to throw the ball as he was getting taken to the ground instead of taking a sack (which is just stupid unless your Ben R).

It's definitely looking like it's going to be an interesting match up though.
What happens when The Unstoppable Force meets The Immovable Object?

A hellish headache and a 6-pack of hemorrhoids

Whatever. All this crap sounds like the garbage New England has put out for years. "Oh we respect them sooooo much, ooooohhh they're going to be soooo tough".....and they're facing Cinncinati. New England never believed that ****. And if you don't think the Eagles aren't sitting in meetings thinking they're going to knock the shine off Brees and the offense you're kidding yourself.

The Saints offense scares a lot of defenses but I don't think the Eagles are one of them.

Excuse me? A Saints fan talking for EAGLES defenders saying that they are not scared? How do you know the feelings of all 11 Eagle defenders sir? Even if I'm Champ Bailey, I sure as heck wouldn't be looking forward to dealing with a guy like Devery Henderson, who can fly by you with the slightest lapse. Even worse when you NEVER know where Brees is going with the ball.

If Eagle players want to talk up the Saints, good for them. I most certainly won't try and figure out if they mean it or not. I respect what the Saints have put together this year. So yeah, if he says he's scared, I'll take it.

I don't see anyone on the Eagles D being scared, concerned perhaps but not scared. I'm sure they do respect what Drew and our O brings to the table because smart players know that underestimating your opponent can be disastrous. Two kinds of approaches to those types of interviews, take the high road or talk smack. Most teams and players take the former approach and it also has more of an upside because if you talk your opponent up and beat them it looks better compared to talking **** about them and , perhaps, getting beat by the team you just talked **** about.

We can say the same about the Saints defense .
